I am actually looking at getting a .223 for sport. I love to shoot. Walmart carries two really good brands, Sig Sauer and Bushmaster.

I have heard REALLY good things about the bushmaster AR, but I was curious as to anyones thoughts on here. Any prior military who have had a lot of experience with this particular style of weapon?

Thanks for any information. I've done some google homework, but I'd take you guys as trustworthy sources on certain things.

When I was about 12 my brother in law took my to a shooting range. I have never shot a gun before. Anyways, he handed me a 30 aut 6 with a scope. I lined up, peered down the scope, BOOM! No idea where the bullet went. It knocked off my shoulder and the scope busted the bridge of my nose. Blood was going all over the place and I was waving the gun around and people started yelling at me to set the gun down. We were asked to leave. Haven't shot a gun since. HTH Winters!

They are all built to the same military specs; they are all the same. Buy the cheapest.

You're gonna want something that can also handle stray wild boars.

If you're looking to take down bears and or boars, I highly recommend upping your cartridge to a .308. Look into an FN FAL or an M1A1

I also recommend a Judge for a side arm. It looks like a revolver, but it is actually a shotgun!

As far as assault rifles go, I have only fired an SKS. It could probably shoot through a few bears.

I've got lots, including a 16" bushmaster that I'd consider selling.

Some of the biggest questions are what you're planning to shoot, whether you'd rather use iron sights or if you plan to buy a scope, what barrel length you want (probably either 16 or 20 depending on its use), what's your budget. You can then move into what, if any attachments and extras you're looking for.

Don't limit yourself to wal-mart, just order it online and have it sent to american cash exchange on fort riley blvd. The fee will be about $20. If you have questions just ask, I've used most of what's out there for AR's. Once I know your budget and what you're wanting to use it for I could try to point you to a good deal.

I've got an insane amount of guns, but strangely enough I've never shot an animal even though I come from a family that loves to hunt. I'll go with them, just never had the urge to kill something so I'm probably not the one you have to worry about.

Then again I did get a carry permit so maybe I just love animals and hate people
