When Kansans make asses of themselves, be it on issues like this, or trying to shut down perfectly legal and essential Planned Parentood type businesses, or killing abortion doctors, it makes me glad that I moved to Missouri.

I travel for work and I always rock EMAW gear when traveling...I hate the fact that some people that do see surely automatically think that I am one of those nutjobs. Having an actual nutjob at the center of something this Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) As a former member of the POWL, this bothers me greatly.  Joe Montgomery really has little interaction with the organization, he comes to Friday rehearsal, that's about it.  Yet his extreme and misguided political views are now becoming a stain and distraction from the band.  The band works very hard, and represents the university in a way that makes most K-Staters proud.  Its an important part of the gameday experience, and they support the football team with tremendous enthusiasm.  Now, unfortunately, when the band takes the field, anyone who follows the news will be distracted from what the 300 students are doing and will view the band in a negative light.

Also, these types of things are unfortunate for reasonable people who are not Obama supporters, but not foolish enough to believe he wasn't born in the USA.  I don't like that a loud, vocal minority, paints all political conservatives to be irrational fools.

I hope for the sake of the band that Joe is relieved of his position.  It is drawing too much negative attention.

Yep, that's why there were over 2,000 comments on the story from people around the world just a few hours after it was reported. And by the way, we're not just trying to save the name of the university in front of the world--we also have to protect the reputation for those within the state, too. But there are already stories about this dumbass in the Mercury, the Capital-Journal, and undoubtedly the Star, the Eagle, and many more that I haven't found yet but most certainly will be able to.

UPDATE: 5:52 p.m. -- The all-Republican Objections Board voted unanimously on Thursday afternoon to delay a final decision on Obama's eligibility for the state's ballot until a meeting Monday, pending either documentation on the president's citizenship from Hawaii officials or the presence of the Obama campaign.

According to tweets from the meeting, Kobach proposed that the board meet again Monday to discuss Obama's citizenship and look into receiving more documentation. Board members expressed concern that Obama's campaign did not attend the hearing, instead submitting a letter defending the president and saying he is eligible for the ballot in Kansas. State Democratic Party spokesman Dakota Loomis told HuffPost earlier Thursday that Democrats would not be attending the hearing, which he dismissed as "fictitious and baseless."

Joe Montgomery, the Kansas State University employee who brought the objection, attended the hearing. Tweets from meeting attendees indicated that the entire board had concerns about Obama's campaign not attending.
