I get people not liking Wooly or Weiser or whatever. I don't get trying to downplay landing a pretty solid recruit (Clent Stewart). Is this what it's going to be like after all our wins this year? because, woof. at some point you have to wonder if people want to be right about Wooly more than they want to win basketball games.

sure, and we did the same thing with Bill coming back. I'm glad you and I were wrong about that. I'm going to hope we're wrong about oscar and party if we are. I'm not going to be sad and wish I was right and fight every victory in hopes that I eventually am.

Oh, your definition of "sucking ass" is that middle ground I'm talking about.  Gotcha.

It would be so much easier if I didn't hate oscar Weber and everything he stands for.  I'm going to cheer my guts out for the cats this season.  It's just going to be a little different.

i just reread the thread and it's kind of debatable whether or not there were any posts that were downplaying the fact that we just got this guy.

no, it's not

yeah rick

Sorry doodz but after the Miami non-consensual anal sexing, its hard to get excited about some dude with zero stars.  I'll check back with you guys in a few months.

when was the last time kstate signed or accepted a commit from four consecutive unranked (rivals 150) bball recruits?  2005 or 2006 maybe?  hard to recall.

That's downplaying.

well if you don't see how those aren't debatable in their downplaying of foster and certainly not posts that warrant this topic being discussed (again) then i'm not sure what to tell you. time to send the kids to their grandparents for the weekend maybe? :dunno:

because at some point in time we have to be able to actually discuss things like iowa state's recruiting and kstates last two years of recruiting and it should be also ok for jt to say hey guys it's still football season, we just beat miami by eleventybillion and this guy isn't even currently rated so it's not a big deal to him right now without the gestapo rushing in and acting like he just insulted fosters mom or something. getting bent out of shape over that comment is basically the equivalent to starting an argument because someone left the toilet lid up again when you're really mad because they cheated on you six months ago and you suspect they're doing it again and they've run up huge credit card debt and should be looking for a job because they got laid off a month ago but instead choose to just sit around and drink all day.

It's perfectly ok for anyone to say whatever they want. That's what this board is for. It's also perfectly ok for anyone to get annoyed at what is, at best, an effort to spin a decent thing happening into just more of what is already an unbearable pile of suck for a lot of us. I don't mind dissent, and I'd never encourage suppressing it, but going through another round of arguments and soul-searching because team #burnitdown won't be satisfied until we're consistently landing 4-5 star recruits and winning 25+ games a year under oscar (which I think we all agree will likely never happen) does get old over time, and I don't understand why this bothers you. If jt doesn't think this is a big deal, that's cool. If sys wants to actively root for the program to fail, fine. That's their right and it's their right to tell us so. Just don't get all indignant if people push back somewhat against that line of thought when something good happens, because their reaction is just as predictable as #burnitdown's naysaying and it's not worth about getting butthurt about the butthurt about the original butthurt.

and fwiw i'm more on team #burnitdown than you realize, so quit with the gestapo bullshit.

Can't be.  Mediocre ass-sucking perpetuates more mediocre ass-sucking.  2-win ass-sucking gets us a tHuggins.

But I guess we can better define levels of ass-suck in a couple years as needed.

i guess i'm just annoyed that yet another thread (that had up until this point been entirely about marcus and college basketball recruiting) got turned into weber/currie/burnitdown/etc. discussion.

but hey, that's just me. maybe you guys aren't done discussing all that quite yet.

If that were the same situation as this is, then people would definitely still be saying, "But he's doing it with Prince recruits.  Anyone can win with those players."  But it's not the same situation, and we were terrible.  If we were terrible in basketball for the past 3 years and we hired Weber, the backlash would not be near as bad.  The difference is that Snyder was our best option at the time, and Weber was not our best option.  Not even close.

Also, I will be cheering for KSU hoops, but it's just hard to get excited about any recruits when he was bringing in guys more highly rated than this to Illinois and couldn't do anything with them.  Maybe he'll get a bunch of 4*s and we'll fire him and have someone who can coach win with them.

So I'm glad we got Marcus Foster, based off everything I've read and seen about him, I think his game is pretty similar to Marcus Denmon's, I hope Foster can produce at the same level for KSU that Denmon was able to for Missouri.

I think this commit gives us so momentum to finish off the rest of this class, which will not be a Top 25 national class, but could feature some very solid pieces for a very competitive team down the road.

If you're worried about Iowa St. passing us, that should have happened when they were able to bring in Royce White, Chris Allen, Anthony Booker, and Korie Lucious. Some may have considered bringing in all those transfers a risk, but guess what, all those guys can play and they proved it last year(Lucious will get his shot this year), grats to Hoiberg for not getting in their way. They've also done a good job bringing in 4* Georges Niang and 3* Sherron Dorsey-Walker in last year's class.

Even before Frank left, they were going to finish ahead of us in the rankings for the Class of '12. They're probably going to finish ahead of us for '13, it's not the end of the world.

Their latest commit, 6'8" PF Richard Armadi, is an NR JC kid who'll have 1 yr of eligibility in 13-14. It sounds like he might be under the radar but I don't think he's going to strike fear in the hearts of other frontlines in the Big 12.

Iowa St was good last year(they beat us twice, finished ahead of us in league), they're probably going to be good into the near future at least. Hoiberg has done a very good rebuilding their program but it's not like it's just coming out of nowhere. It's also not like they're some insurmountable juggernaut that we won't have any ability to compete with. In several instances, we're competing for the same talent(Vitto Brown and Hassan Martin). Embrace the challenge of competing with them.

Maybe he just needs worse players for better results.  Maybe that's what it is.
