The owner/manager at Morts is a chick named Emma and shes good people.  I know that they have 2 other owners as well but I didnt think they had anything to do with day-to-day operations.  Weird.  :dunno:

Upon further review, the guy I'm calling owner/manager wasn't either of the Sheets Bros who own it with Emma, but def appeared to be managing.

Guys, when we have the end-of-season bash at the nearby brewery, walk me south out the front door.

I honestly had no idea who owned it with Emma.  I havent spent much time down there since Frank died.  (Only a coincidence, I didnt know that guy either.)  Curious who that guy was, I still know most of the employees there, they dont have much turnover.  Regardless, it was a pretty sweet jacket.

Morrie started the bar years ago.  Since buying it back I have seen him there every time I go or drive by the place.

I was actually thinking about starting a 'fighting you' thread for the belligerent, drunk, racist, homophobic KSU fans that shared our table. It was an awesome time out with Trim and would do again, Daiji gf, not so much a fan of the evening and probably wouldn't do again.

I bet Daiji just sat there and laughed.
I did not sit there and laugh, I was laughing the whole time but once Trim went down I was trying to keep the guy off of him, but it lasted all of 60 seconds if that. Those two jokers were long gone and fast. I really wish Trim had held onto his shoe until the cops came. Then the drunk assholes would have had to forego their shoe or deal with the cops.

Lets see if I can run down the events of the evening with some great Trim quotes worked in.

Dinner at Pumphouse, went great. Game wasn't as thrilling as we had hoped and not enough #life, but w/e. I think drunk assholes #1 and #2 may have actually been at the back of the restaurant and were pre-gamming it before Morts.

We went out to drinks after the game at Morts, and these Two drunk, belligerent, homophobic, racist assholes, one young, and one old, joined our table out on the patio. Being ever so observant, since Trim and myself are both in KSU jackets and Daiji gf is in some purple, the young one asks us if we are KSU fans. We are all instantly best friends. This friendship lasts maybe 90 min.

There is live music, and its a cover band that mixes in a few original comedy songs. One such song is about how "Someone Called Todd a Gaywad (and thats not ok)". The young one kept clamoring for the 'Todd's a Gaywad' song, because as far as Trim and I could tell, he really hates gaywads. The band actually humored him and played it and he looked happier than any kid who has to wear a helmet I have ever seen.

Our waitress was actually to the point where she was going to stop serving the two. He had ordered a round of shots for the table once, and Trim and I didn't say no. The 2nd time he tried to order a round of shots, she asked how many he wanted and he said "10". There were only 6 people at the table. This is when she was going to stop serving him and she asked if he had a ride home since cabs are a bitch to find in Wichita. He told her "he didn't understand" what she was saying. Trim helpfully translated for the two. "She is saying that you're being assholes and should leave and go order your shitty Natty Lites somewhere else" Surprisingly we were all still friends at this point.

What pushed them over the edge was when we were all trying to debate the finer points of how the OU game would turn out next week. I didn't catch all of the conversation but I did hear Trim bait him on race. The phrase "Its because they have all of those ni**ers on their team" was uttered by the racist. He later went on to say that it 'wasn't his fault that his grandpappy used to own his grandpappy'. These were the reasons that KSU was going to win on Saturday against OU in his opinion.

Other great moments of Trim's routine: We found out that they weren't alumni and, big shocker, didn't actually graduate college at all. I thought this was a problem that KU and OU had, not us. Trim repeatedly called them assholes and retards to their face and got a few scowls.  I have no idea what the final straw was that pushed them over the edge. The old one asked me to confirm what Trim did for a living and I told him 'Yeah, he is legit' and next think I knew, sloppy punches were being thrown and Trim was knocked over in his chair and they had bumped the table and broken some glasses.

As Trim put it best, "This is why we [KSU fans] can't have nice things". Those two got out and took off pretty quick. I would like to think they were smart and used it as a way to avoid paying their tab, but we all know they didn't have the mental capacity for that.

Awesome first pak, will definitely do again.

TLDR: Trim is hilarious. Will Pak again. He really put them in their place. And then them put him on the ground.

Thats just really incredible. Wichita sounds magical.

I would really like to know if CanConfirm was able to recover any security camera footage of the above incident.

Lots of zeal from relatively new poster Daiji.  How do you pronounce your name?  DIE-gee? day-JI?

Daiji gf, not so much a fan of the evening and probably wouldn't do again.

Is she still going to get herself a Daiji jersey and come to the games and help with scorekeeping and all that?  The games don't often get very violent unless minors are involved.

Its spelled ambiguously enough that you can pronounce it however you prefer, but I have always read it as 'Die-gee'

I am still going to get her a Daiji jersey and drag her to the games when she is in town. She may not be up for drinks afterwards though.

 :horrorsurprise:

Daiji tell her that there are many paks where Mrs. MIR, Mrs. JW, Mrs. Gooch, Mrs. BBF$$, and/or one of Fanning's assorted Fillys make appearances.  There was even a time when a wife came to a pak for her birthday.

I'm guessing this whole scene wouldn't have happened if I was not there.  Serves you right for not going to River City.

Running at NW YMCA again tonight starting sometime between 8-8:30.

Contemplating hitting up Wichita Pizza Cat's place for pre-hoops dinner on my way out to Great Bend.  Also rumblings that LSOC wants the strut 'n cut post-hoops boozecat experience when we're done.

7-ish pizzapak?

This will be my third visit in the last week... but yes, I'm in.  I mean, if we are already going to be in Colorado, we might as well stop in.

Oh man, drunk basketball.   :D :D

Ignore Why isn't there a bonafied KSU bar in Wichita? Reply

I know nothing about the bar business, but it seems like there is a large body of KSU fans in Wichita who loyally follow sports, but don't have a go-to bar for KSU games. Example. Last year during the NCAA tourney, there were about 30 of us at Fat Tonys, but they turned on UFC, and we all got up and left to find a bar showing our game. Thoughts?9/18 1:56 PM | IP: Logged

It sounds like there is more white trash than KSU alumns in town. I would suggest the bar you ended up at.

I enjoyed Dajhi's (sp) story.  Sorry about your jacket Trim.

BTW, Gooch did I leave my vintage KSU sweatshirt in your truck?
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.
