I wonder what this means when my elite neighborhood gets Google Fiber!

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

Pete, if you're gonna insist on being a bitch about this, send your filthy emails to K-State Sports Properties, a division of Learfield Sports at 1800 College Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.  DO NOT send them to the K-State Athletic Department at 1800 College Avenue, Manhattan, KS 66502.

I wonder if they know how much they are going to piss off Kansas City.

Prez Shulz is going to love this.

Oh, the KC Catbackers should be a delight this year as well.

Unless you plan on attending a KC Learfieldbackers event, it really shouldn't be an issue.

Tomorrow night I cannot attend, but THE Tim Fitzgerald is the guest.

He is a media type who might be able to help Cat fans, and become a hero.

Maybe he'll offer himself and DJamer Wally's services to do pirated hoops broadcasts emanating from a Salina studio.  :dunno:

Good idea, but they would need to be prerecorded and extremely fast paced.  Not sure it would work.

These are the guys who accurately predicted Jeff Luc to the Cats and Tay Bender backing up Klein.  You think they can't forecast some measly hoops games?

DJDT already has some practice footage.  Chop that up into some highlights with Drizzy in the background to simulate a full game into a down and dirty half-hour.  Boom.  eff you Learfield, GPC has it covered.

It's Learfield, dumbass.  John Currie's only one man.  Even he can't take down Learfield.

I cannot.  Surewest doesn't offer it.  They have been living on borrowed time with me (they don't have HBOgo either).

Learfield may actually be doing me a favor here.

Let's leave the Currie issue aside for minute, how is everyone not upset about the potential of K-State fans not being able to see the games?  I struggle to comprehend the myriad posts I'm reading here and on GPC where people are actually arguing that it is better to have less visibility in the hopes that the AD gets a few more bucks.

The boot-licking deference to power even when weighed against their own best interest is impossible for me to understand.  I will never understand it.  We are not consumers to be manipulated for the profits of the Athletics Department, we are alumni that should have an Athletics Department that serves US.  Why the hell is this hard for people?  Its like we are so used to dysfunction that we don't even understand how things are supposed to work.

I hope we hear that this is resolved and FSN is back.  But this is just another episode that has pulled back the curtain on the mindset of some (most?!) of our fans, and it actively hurts them, you and I.  I'm not sure who really benefits, because again it strains all possible definitions to claim that it "benefits" the Athletics Dept. because THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE OURS!

Trim said it best (paraphrase):

WE are K-State.  You're just some guy who gets a paycheck from US.

I had planned on switching from Cox to Directv to get the NFL deal but I'd hate to not be able to watch 10 freakin Cat games.  eff Currie/Leerfield/whoever else is responsible for us being regulated to freaking cox 22.  What will they do when WSU has a big volleyball that conflicts with one of our games?!    :ohno:

GPC would like you to know that it isn't that important because it is only 10 icky non-con games that no one cares about and if you cared about it enough you'd find a way to watch the games so get over it and we will make tons of money and party and it will be awesome when we can finally compete with the big boys with our awesome comcast/KAKE contract for millions of dollars.

I'm more likely to go to a bar on Sunday to watch the NFL than I am to go on a Tuesday night to watch the Cats play Savannah State.  eff this crap, now I gotta stick with Cox.  Wonder how much Leerfield got from them to make this deal...l

JT, you'd be a moron not to get Directv.  Also the "deal" with MetroSports and/or Kansas 22 is not done they were just speculated as potential suitors.  Real being real both networks have plenty of inventory including 22 having WSU games already.  As much as we think they should be, if there is a conflict between a game that is already contracted and a KSU game that isn't contracted, KSU is getting tape delayed or not shown at all.

Honestly the only way this is getting saved is if we get the FSKC deal back and get it back this season ASAP.  I don't watch them but we've already lost an episode of The LHC Bill Snyder Show, I do watch volleyball and we only have one televised match scheduled and that's an ESPNU match at flood aggy.

The boot-licking deference to power even when weighed against their own best interest is impossible for me to understand.

One thing I've learned about a lot of K-State fans outside of this forum is that they were raised to always be deferential to those higher up than them, to shut up and be productive in your own life and not complain about what the boss is doing because they clearly know what they're doing if they got that position (in their minds). It's not because these tucks are inferior human beings, it's because they grew up in an environment where questioning authority was rarely encouraged. It makes sense especially for those who come off the farm to K-State because if you grow up in an agricultural and/or rural environment, you don't have a lot of time or opportunities to question one decision or another. What's more baffling is when kids who grew up in suburban or urban KC come to K-State and adopt the same mindset.

There are other parts of the country where this mindset occurs, but it seems to be especially strong with K-Staters. KU 'tucks, on the other hand, whine all the goddamn time about what their athletic department's doing. They'll eat their own so damned quickly it'll make your head spin. A vast majority of KU people come from urban environments like KC, Omaha, STL, Chicago, etc., so it makes sense; questioning authority is always more common in urban environments than rural ones.

Of course, not all K-Staters who come from rural and/or agricultural backgrounds are going to always be deferential to bad decisions made by the athletic department and/or the university. This forum is evidence of that. But we're outnumbered by those who are, and I think that should be pretty obvious by now to everyone. It's the nature of the beast, and it's something we're always going to have to deal with as K-State fans.
