Okay, we tell Dubai they can take all the land they want starting from Mississippi, through Arkansas, Missouri, Southeast Kansas, thus creating a bay off the Gulf of Mexico with which we can get more bang for the buck when hiring coaches.

Is it crazy?  Yes...which is why I think I like it.

Our next coach should absolutely make a lot more money than the head coach at TCU is making.

Lots of programs were interested in Patterson, pay raise was a defensive measure.

LHCBS' raise is an emergency measure to demonstrate that we're willing to pay for a FB coach when we start looking for one in January, 2013 since Snyder is about to retire.

there are rumblings
I think he'll be around until Tate graduates at the least (this came from Tate, fwiw)

I want Gary Patterson. Pay Gary!

do not want
Yeah, I have wanted Patterson for a long time. I mean, since before "It's Patterson!" Then I read sd's post. I don't want Patterson anymore.
Great call, sd!

I think we would have a solid shot at Petrino for about $2.5 million per year if Snyder were to retire after this season.

Harder sell to our tuck fanbase:  Huggins or Petrino?

hard to say.  on the one hand, they don't care about basketball.  on the other hand, they seem to enjoy winning at football.

I think Petrino is a harder sell because Huggins didn't really do anything wrong. Petrino lied to his boss and a police officer. (I think).

Yeah, prolly.  Petrino's thing was also "dirty"

which would win favor with our creepy ass tuck fanbase (see GPC thread for more detail)

so our smart AD paid Snyds more (by 250K, lol) to send a "message" that "hey, at kansas state, we'll pay you".  why wouldn't he just tell whomever you want to hire next, "hey, we'll pay you 3.5M".  Like, to me, telling someone directly that you'll pay them 3.5M is better than paying Snyder 250K to send that message to them.  but that's just me.

fyi, I don't think currie gave snyds a pay raise to send any kind of message.  and let me say that if he did, then it would only further prove how awful he is at coach management.

3M prolly gets you skip holtz.

If I were Bill, I would have made Currie pay me $3 million. Currie would have to pay it, too. Our fanbase would run his ass out of town if he penny pinched LHC LHC Bill Snyder out of town.

But Bill isn't willing to not coach.  It's not like Bill's going to walk away over salary.  And nobody else is going to hire him.  If anything Currie has more leverage over Bill than a normal coach.

That's a very good point, but then why are there rumblings that Bill is done after this year?

because he may be done after this year.  have you listened to any of his interviews?  he notes that he just wanted to come back to calm the waters and that they are now calmed about every 10th sentence. sometimes in response to questions that aren't really in that direction.
