Tailgating thread
« on: August 23, 2012, 10:39:02 AM »
Let's talk some tailgating.

I'm running into some issues this year.  Our tailgate is getting older each year and we're already overrun with tucks.  Any suggestions on how to make the tailgate younger and fresher (no we can't runoff the tucks they have all the nice toys).

Also, do you guys ever do themes for your tailgate?  For example we're going to do Mexican the first week and I'm going to make some of my famous car-nee-tass.  Serve some Sol and Tecate.  Thinking about having some tailgaters act out a scene from my favorite telenovela.  Thoughts?

Sounds like you need more drinking. I'd try that first, then react for the second game if you have to.

Yes.

This year Mrs. WNK and I have planned to do Mexican for one game, Pizzas for another, and the rest are still TBD.  Lots of alcohol is involved, the gents enjoy cigars.  Good times looking forward to it.

Totally agree, but I think some good activities/atmosphere begat drinking.  Sitting around talking about the drought and short-side options don't really make people thirsty.

Look, if you want to go younger / fresher, you're gonna have to cut out the bullshit like Mexican theme day.  Not saying it isn't awesome, but if you want to go younger / less tucky, you need to switch to cheap beer, one or two tailgating games, and loud speakers.  If you are going to eat, don't over think it.  Bring a grill, throw some brats and burgers on there.  Bring some chips, maybe some dip.  It is great to have good food at the tailgate, but if you don't want to have a tucky tailgate, focus more on getting crap-faced and inappropriately boisterous.  If the tucks around you aren't uncomfortable, you're doing it wrong.

Come on Katdaddy, those little moist morsels of madness are wonderful things for all ages.

emo- here is the key. I will say this only once and then I will have to come back and delete this post. Moonshine. Find someone who makes moonshine. Bring some moonshine to the tailgate. Pass the jar (there is no other way to drink moonshine). Tucks and goEMAWers alike will get really pak'd and you will have an awesome tailgate all because of moonshine.

Second key, but no where near as important as the first key: eff the themes, too much work and too fake. The best parties are the ones not planned for (except for some very special occasions).

only the greatest drinking game to ever hit the DU basement. it's like quarters except instead of quarters & shot glasses you use solo cups & ping pong balls. also involves swatting away solo cups and yelling 'BOOM!'.
