this is a rough ridin' outrage.  everyone knows it will have a huge effect on democratic voters and is completely unfair.

the government shouldn't know the id of all of its citizens. privacy and individual freedom from government tyranny, you know.

yep, what kind of system is this when voters aren't even allowed to vote? (unless they have a government ID, in which case they can vote.)

Would you get an ID if you didn't drive?

Wouldn't you still need a passport?

Only if you planned on traveling to other countries.  I didn't have a passport until I was 21 or so.

Who was it?  Was it . . . Hillary that first started talking about a . . . National ID Card?

Man oh man, remember back in 2006 when theh (D)'s stormed Congress, they were gonna extract us from the wars, and "get" Big Oil, and huge budget deficits were going to end, and we were gonna start paying down the debt and the out-of-control spending was going to be halted on the spot?

Yeah . . . I remember.

Yeah, it was Hillary, National ID card.

National ID cards in general would be a very Dem thing to do, except in election times when a tiny fraction of their voting base may have difficulty obtaining an ID, and it becomes a Repub thing to do.

Serious question, does it cost anything to get an ID?  If it is the same $20 or whatever it is for a new DL, I can understand why someone who was worried about where their next meal was coming from wouldn't want to waste $20 on an ID.

Also, there isn't anyone that actually thinks that the people who couldn't be bothered to get an ID are going out and committing tons of voter fraud, right?  They are worried about political groups taking advantage of it and influencing close elections, right?

:adios:

Could you imagine a National ID card that wouldn't need to be shown to vote?

Man oh man . . . you'd need it to do pretty much everything else, but not vote.     (hey that sounds a lot like life today . . . except to vote)

I mean really

Why would Republicans waste their effort with something like this when they can always resort to some good old fashioned voter intimidation like Florida in 2000?    :jerk:
