« on: July 31, 2012, 03:37:42 PM »
Quote
Stephen F. Austin announced Monday that it will open the 2014 football season at Kansas State.

The game is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 30 at LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas.
Easy win imo

Let's just hope Texas has a game that day too so all of the SFA grads will be preoccupied

The first FBS game the Stunners have played outside the state of Texas since Tulsa in '06.

I think they beat us before the days of LHCBS it was them or Sam Houston or some other lamer team.Willie Nelson was going to play afterward and we had the lead with enough time on the clock for them to take a couple shots into the endzone. I think they had the ball just inside our territory and on the first attempt had a wide open receiver in the endzone and missed then they ran what appeared to be the same play and the receiver was once again wide open this time for the game winning touchdown. Then they pulled Willie Nelson out on a mobile stage to play and the skies opened up and it poured.I think we can handle them this time

Pretty sure that was Austin Peay State. Might be wrong though.

We left when it started pouring.I had attended almost every home game from 1970 up until then and those were some pretty horrid times to be a cat fan. When we made that first Independence bowl and then got really bad again I tried my best to keep my head up but the Willie Nelson game was just too much to take.I didn't Return to the stadium until LHCBS second or third season.

That's awful. Stories like this make me question just how dedicated our fans really are. Why, if I didn't have a lot of first hand experience with the greatest fans on earth, I reckon your story would make me think all of our fans are fair weather like you. LCS Willie Nelson could have sang for OU on that Saturday but he chose Kansas State because of the friendly faces and great atmosphere. Then you don't even stick around long enough to hear "On the road again". pathetick

What part of almost every home game for 18 or so years don`t you understand? I became a fan as soon as I started watching football at the age of 4 or so. My favorite pro team to this day is the Redskins because Larry Brown played for them back then. When I was around 8 I begged my parents to get season tickets and if my dad couldn't take me I found someone else.I think the average attendance back then was around 5,000 unless OU or NU was in town. After they fired coach Dickey it really went downhill and if I remember correctly one year they fired a coach and the freakin AD took over. Hell the idea of dropping football even came up.I don't recall there being a lot of fans there for that game,
Were you there? And a lot of them just came to see Willie and most left when it rained so your bet that the fans stuck it out to see Willie was a losing one.Call me fair weather all you want on here but don,t ever do it to my face.My guess is you never even saw a pre LHCBS game but I could be wrong.I still attend some home games and listen to or watch every game religiously and I was a Wildcat before every man WAS a wildcat so eff you.And Skinny I believe your right,Austin Pea State jeez,It just effing crushed me.Sorry I turned my back for a couple years.I'm done now. :)

Hur Hur Hur...The Larry Brown I follow played RB for the Cat`s and went on to become the first Redskin to rush for 1,000 yards but you wouldn't know this.I Don`t know who this Larry"squawk"Brown you speak of is but I would venture to guess you are a fan of some team he used to coach or something.

Oh, no you di not just call me a cheese sniffin ku fan. Son, I've been a fan of the cats since before I was born. I watched the cats smoke South Dakota State in 1960 for my first game. I don't go to every game because I don't live close enough and I fell on hard times during the 80's so I wasn't at the Willie Neslon game. It just drives me crazy to think that a little rain and a result that didn't go your way could make somebody stop watching the greatest team on earth. I understand being upset about the loss, but if Willie can't cheer you up, nothing can. I just pray that you don't turn to drugs to find happiness.

So is SFA the meatball before the v. Auburn returny?  Do I have the year right?
