scroll down to the boys 100 meter final. There you will see a sophomore DeMarcus Robinson in 2nd place. The time is solid but not spectacular. But what makes this notable for your all-burner, speed, etc. teams is who he defeated. You will see a Isiah Young of Junction City in 8th place in that particular race. Isiah placed 3rd at the olympic trials in the 200 meters and will be competing in that event next week in London. Now, if you defeat a future olympic sprinter who is 2 years your senior I would think that qualifies you for a burner team. Robinson is obviously one of our fastest players and looked pretty quick on that return for a TD in the spring game.

I wouldn't advise DeMarcus to re-match against Young. But I would point out that 8th place 100 in Kansas is sprint champ in SEC. Young won the SEC 200 meters this spring.

perhaps DeMarcus will start doing what he's asked to do for his position in this offense. the kid has some talent.

So let me get this straight, a person who is going to be in the Olympics in the 200 didn't participate in the race as a high school senior?

I'm guessing that to be part of the problem. I think if Pease knows everything he's doing and Demarcus does everything he's supposed to do then Hubert doesn't see the field.

yep. it is crazy how some of these kids develop. a few years ago a kid out of wichita named Oliver Bradwell finished 5th or so as a junior in the kansas 6a 100. The following year he wasn't eligible but ran summer track and had the fastest 100 in the nation. He then won a spot on the USA 19 and under team and competed at the world championships.

Newman ran an 11.0 as a senior to win state. A few years later he was Big 12 sprint champ running 10.2s and competing very well against future olympic champ justin gatlin.

oh man thanks for sharing this manhatter because myself, along with members of the all burner selection committee are having lunch today to start mapping out our all-burners. i have a meeting this afternoon with members of the all speed merchant committee as well, i have a sneaking suspicion that this information is going to be discussed in depth during both meetings. thanks again, go cats.

It would seem to my LFBIQ that learning the zone reads would be very tough, more so for RBs that dominated in HS by their ability to outrun defenses.

yeah well. I'm starting to feel the playing time this year at RB is going to be something like 60% Pease, 30% Hubert, and 10% Demarcus.

Speaking of burners... kid that won like all of those races, Terrance Thomas, appears to have been high on us as a CB recruit, but it looks like he headed to Butler and I can only find track stuff on him now. Is he out of football? Makes me a little sad. Could use that kind of speed at CB.
