Yeah... But your just kind of baller in general.

Vintage $15 turntables are great until they break down, then you'll pay a bunch to get it fixed. Not saying you can't find one in good condition at a thrift store, but it's certainly not all that common.

I got a steal, but you can get something of much better quality for under $100 that is old.

SUCH AS?

Where did you get that overnight bag?

Go to craigslist, search for turntables in your price range, then Google them to see if they're any good.

I think turntablepage or something similar has pretty good reviews and lots of owner's manuals.

I would like to purchase a turntable for under $100. Should I get a new one? scour craigslist for a used "gem"? What?

For $100, I'd probably lean towards a new one unless there's a particular model you're after. You can also occasionally find some decent direct drive (DJamer) decks at pawns shops for around the price. You're just never sure how they've been treated.

For instance: http://buydig.store.buy.com/p/audio-technica-at-lp60-usb-lp-to-digital-record-cd-turntable-belt/214573401.html

I'm thinking about getting one of these. I've never downloaded much music and finding new releases on vinyl is becoming more and more prevalent (if you have a good record store to go to). Most of the time it's the same price as a CD and much more collectible. I'll exclusively buy wax and then drop the virgin spin to digital files. Also, most of the time when you buy and artists new release on vinyl you either get a CD in the package or you get a digital download of the album from their website.

This was terrible advice, I got a pretty baller vintage TT for like $15.

how did this end up working out? do you use it and did you take it to nyc with you?

i think i'm going to buy a vintage Sansui TT that's in really good shape for like $60. but there are lots of 80s japanese ones (i've narrowed down to that) for around that price range on marketplace

I actually got a Sansui TT and it's been fantastic. It made the move but it got a little beat up in the process. There was a bad connection on one of the RCA cables already that was made worse and the tonearm counterweight got messed up so I'm going to take it to a repair shop. I was looking at one this week, just haven't been able to make time for it.

also in extreme hipster things I got a tape deck that I use to listen to cassettes from bands too small to press vinyl. I always hunt cassettes when I need to kill time traveling and have the most amazing Japanese Disco Christmas cassette that I think is a Hong Kong bootleg. I wish I could find a digital version, it's so wild.

I personally find it difficult to find time to get my vintage, analog music devices serviced due to my LinkedIn obligations.

Post a picture of your Sansui!
The guy I got it from has extreme adorable dad energy like he printed the owners manual out and stapled it together, and put a twistie on the needle arm before I left to make sure it didn't bounce around in my car.

That's a pickle.

I am intrigued by the vinyl genre, and have considered it....I have found memories of my Dad's sweet hifi system from my early childhood days.  However, I can't think of too many situations where I would use it.  Or, a separate but related challenge is what would I do if I did use it?  Do you just sit there and listen?  I mean, what do you do with your body?  I don't like to dance.  Do you find it's better to just sit and look at a fixed spot on the wall?  Is this meditation?  go cats.

NOTE:  I have observed that some people do like to put on records and smoke marijuana and work on puzzles.  That's an actual thing apparently.

Confirmed.  Each of those activities should be accompanied by at least one of the others.

I need to dust and organize my cables  :blindfold:

Also I'm pretty much 1 in, 1 out on my records. I got some shitty dollar bin records that I don't need and don't buy a whole lot any more.

Yeah I already had a phono amp and wanted something really compact so I got this:

https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-DTA-2.1BT2-100W-2.1-Class-D-Bluetooth-Amplifier-with-Sub-Frequency-Adjustment-300-3831?gclid=CjwKCAiAwKyNBhBfEiwA_mrUMjkGYRohAlQU8MjAWKRikWZ0CxlPGyIUdzOkkKU4HL63jzgOP_c0SxoCADEQAvD_BwE

Also have a Dayton Audio sub that you can see off to the side that makes a HUGE difference with the bookshelf speakers when it comes to filling out the sound

Hi, thanks for coming over! Oh thank you for recognizing my annoying giant crap music producer! We will not be utilizing it. Also I do not personally ever utilize it.
