really looking forward to my ksu football preview that will be published here exclusively for my friends at goEMAW. yes, free, unlike my future articles, which can be found ONLY at MHK area newspaper boxes early in the ~~morning~~ evening (keep forgetting) at a cost of $1.

unrelated, but i hear levi takes holidays off.

I've got some ink in my blood. I used to be a part-time sports writer for the Mercury. When I worked there, we got canned ham as our Christmas bonus. <--- true story

That said, I'm not throwing my hat in the ring for this one. I ain't got the fire. It's a young man's game, and this kid can't bring the damn zeal no more. Someone else gets the canned ham this time.

You know, it's a chilly 69 degrees in Portland right now, making it impossible to swim or do any customary Independence Day activities.

Meanwhile, it's just a touch above 100 in good ol' MHK. Daris has the slip n slide going in the front lawn and everyone's having a blast pre-pak'n before him and newshound stage the annual 4th of July cul-de-sac spectacular.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if a certain EMAW hero isn't paying a LOT of attention to this developing situation.

kellis is the only one of them that covers us full time. also, i really wish meek would've got the star/eagle job and then manbeck at tcj. that would've been dreamy. instead we're left w/ .5 meek. also, manbeck did as good as anyone possibly could at the mercury, i think. whoever they get will be worse. that's a given.

Pretty great opportunity for whoever gets the gig. Manbeck will put them on the right path with goEMAW. Their toughest competition is probably at a squawk press conference. The job probably comes with basic health insurance and stuff so no need to moonlight as a Tubby's DJamer.

Whoever gets the job at The Mercury needs to bring back that midweek video segment with Kinder. That was awesome and adorable with Manbeck. Maybe Rake can pull it off, I don't know. Even if Cole had nothing great to talk about, you could tell how much he loved talking about the 'cats.

Like I told Trim on Twitter yesterday, I (me, myself) haven't spoken with anyone about this position. Of course it's nice when your name comes up in searches like this; it means you're doing a good job. But I'm very happy where I am -- coordinating, #ArkansasPak, etc. Maybe someday there will be an opportunity to "come home," but is now that time? Like I said, I'm happy now.
