But it was not clear just how sacrosanct that time off was until Thursday, when Europe’s highest court ruled that workers who happened to get sick on vacation were legally entitled to take another vacation.

teacher vacation time is brutal. your time off is during the busiest child ridden time of the year for travel and taking time off during the school year is near impossible.

Europeans are great at vacationing. They really follow the motto "Go big or go home". I remember thinking I was cool vacationing in Ireland, then all my British friends were all like "pffffft Ireland? I'm going to Mauritius for a couple weeks"

i'll go to one ski resort each year for a weekend getaway and never fail to meet some europeans who are like, "we're skiing here for 10 days, then sightseeing for a couple of weeks."  i'm always like, "wtf am i doing wrong here?" :(

here's the thing, though.  if i was taking a really long vacation, i would be traveling around a lot and seeing lots of different crap.  just hanging out in a beach house for weeks and weeks, for example, seems like it would get boring.  10 days at the same ski resort?  that can't be exciting at all after like the third day, can it?  you don't have to go anywhere to sleep late and take it easy all day.  if i go somewhere on vacation, i want to hit it hard.  right, guys?

Greece is full of entrepreneurs.  They work more hours than almost anyone else in the eurozone.  Their public servants work more than France, not sure who else has public sector workers under 40 hours.  But whatever.

KK is now flipping from annual hours worked by hourly wage earners to entrepreneurs in greece.  Where will this thread twist to next???  A graph showing the more socialist the country the more productive* it becomes, perhaps longer hours worked by public sector employees = larger national deficit???
