Hey Dudes - So I'm in a little bit of a dilemma here and need some advice...

I work in the architecture industry and recently resigned my position in MHK to take a job closer to home/friends/family in Columbia, MO. It's a good firm with great benefits (i.e. 3 weeks vaca, flex time, comp time, professional support, etc...). Where the mind eff comes in is that two days after accepting the offer for the job in Columbia a firm in San Antonio offered to split the expenses to have me come down for an interview. I have already made the decision to go interview and see what they have to say but I wanted to hear some other people opinions on the two cities...

Any words of wisdom would help a brotha out.

san antonio seems pretty great and is really affordable. i'd go there. what is the name of the company you are interviewing with there?

tell them you will interview if they pay for all expenses. splitting them is kinda bush league and seems like a good tell as to what kind of place it would be to work for.

definitely don't split the expenses. if they are serious enough about you as a candidate then they should pay for it. if they don't want to pay the expenses then go enjoy columbia, mo.

San Antonio is a big city, and is rapidly expanding. On the other hand, Columbia is a smaller city on the brink of a meth lab holocaust.

Complicated answer but it really comes down to professional growth, firm size/atmosphere, long-term potential.

I love Manhattan but the tucks in this town have kinda worn me down (i.e. public transportation, FPD, shortsightedness, etc...) - plus being great smelling and in my mid 20's manhattan is lacking in the urban professional resources that i need to reach my full potential. If i was mid 30's with a family manhattan would be great but I have some wild oats to sow still.

The family/friends thing was just another reason, not the only one. I needed an escape and columbia provided that... in terms of what i really am looking for (big city, lots to do, etc...) San Antonio fulfills that better.
