professional opinions wanted
« on: June 13, 2012, 08:01:22 PM »
I'm going to court soon and going for full custody of my child. We have already settled out of court once and I gave her primary custody but then she moved out of state. My child is going to kindergarden this fall so I'm taking her back to court to figure out where he will be attending school and living.
My son came up for the summer saying he has a new dad! I did a little research and found out the new live in bf is a convicted felon and just got out of jail last fall. He has moved in with his young daughter that my son calls sister.
What are my chances to get custody over the mother?

What's her username here?  I'll compare your posts.  From a quick scan of your history, I'd say the odds are against you.  Were you the last or 2nd-to-last person to recognize Jet was injured last year?

When one person, for whatever reason, has a chance to lead an exceptional life, he has no right to keep it to himself.

college ave (or is it blvd?)

i dont remember.

also, to louie.  get the kid.  being raised by a good dad is much better than a deadbeat mom and felon bf.  also, do whatever it takes not to be bitter or ever say bad stuff about the kids mom to him. that is the worst.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

I dunno, this seems pretty cut and dry. I think an average attorney would do.

I hope you don't live in MO, bro.  Good luck.

Also, sometimes shitty moms keep custody for the financial benefit.  Try offering her a buyout...

The legal system isn't as cut and dry as it used to be.  This case seems like a real pickle.

No mother in their right mind would ever accept a buyout. Think about what happens when that kid turns 18.

"Well, mommy used to really want you to be a part of her life and help raise you well, but daddy offered her a bunch of money up front so that you could live with him. So, yeah, mommy just saw you as a golden ticket to a couple g's but I bet she still loves you and stuff."

Hire a good lawyer if it means that much to you.

Consider yourself lucky, if you had a 15 year old daughter when you were going through a divorce, she would automatically turn out to be a hooker. 100% of the time.
I think what my friend Mitch is trying to say is that true love is blind.

Pretty sure louie is just hoping one of the goEMAW council of lawyers volunteers to represent him via this thread, and at that point louie will carry his laptop to court and have the Judge read the thread.  Maybe, we'll go in chat for the actual trial.

The buyout is a slim chance, that's my point. Not only does that say that she doesn't give a crap about the kid, but she would probably be losing money in the long run. Course, this assumes you will be paying child support. Are you filthy rich?

Wow.  Horrible situation.  I empathize.

I have known guys in the past who were able to successfully block the mother from moving X amount of miles away, when they had an existing shared custody arrangement.   You could probably do that.  One guy blocked his ex from moving with the kids from Prairie Village to Leavenworth...and that's not terribly far.

Godspeed.
