I have a heart on this sort of thing, but anyone who owns a liquor store should have seen this coming years ago. It's better for everyone else if the grocery stores can sell booze, and better if the big outfits come in.
There are no "good" jobs at liquor stores, except for liquor store owners. Their shareholder value will quickly be transferred to shareholders of other firms, though they'll be larger.
It's preposterous to argue that simply because liquor store owners have enjoyed a very, very long run of benefits from a fixed market place as a result of foolish government intervention, that this foolish government intervention should continue in perpetuity merely to sustain the life styles of those handful of liquor store owning capitalists. I mean, the list of unsavory analogous business arrangements that have (thankfully) similarly been toppled is damn near endless. It's not like these mother fuckers are selling baby formula, for eff's sake.
No sir, I'll take my liquor cheap....and with my pork chops, toilet paper, frozen waffles and charcoal briquettes.
