Purple Power Whiskey Decanter
« on: May 25, 2012, 10:27:59 AM »
Hello EMAW Nation,

I have recently come across 4 different Purple Power Whiskey Decanters and wondered if anyone knows the history behind them. (how many different ones were made, possible worth) Anyone that can give me knowledge on them would be greatly appreciated.

I saw a post a couple years ago about their history but I don't remember much about it.  iirc there were only 4 different types though so you prolly have all 4.

The worth isn't important I was just curious. I have no plans to sell them. I inherited them from my grandfather who passed this week. He was a big time K-Stater.

I'm jk 4thgencat. The true story is that those decanters were around during the prohibition and primarily sold by good ole Auntie Mae until the Wagner family found out and decided that this production could not continue. Most willies were smashed but a few still remain, consider yourself lucky.  The most rare is the T206 willie.

Well I must be thinking of different decanters then because one of my roommates had one of these sitting on our entertainment center.  His mom gave it to him and she was an EMAW'r back in the late 60's or early 70's.  Definitley not from Prohibition.

Haha Yeah thank you Brock I do believe Yoga is still trying to yank my chain. I get it. That picture is one of the four. They were made between 1970-1972 if I'm not mistaken.

Some of those decanters were owned by notorious gangster Al Capone, though you can only tell if he owned the ones in question by breaking it and seeing if there is a drawing of a machine gun on the inside.

I don't know man, Yoga is a pretty solid source around here.  If he says there's some Prohibition era Willie decanters I believe him.  He probably saw it on a special episode of Antiques Roadshow or something.

Well Just to be sure I will have to break them open and check for the Machine gun to see if the tale is true.....Think Super Glue will put them back okay?
