Kind of the opposite of this but I saw a big bird eat a small bird right out of the air once at tennis practice in high school.

Probably western kingbirds protecting their nests from hawks/crows.  Usually birds like kingbirds, mockingbirds, and shrikes are to fast and agile for hawks to catch.  However sometimes the hawk gets one.*

The other birds in my neighborhood do not like blue jays AT ALL.  They go apeshit when one lands in my back yard.  I've heard blue jays wreck other birds nests.  Kinda like that bad person at every party that finds it amusing to break stuff in someone else's home.  :dunno:

I'm convinced blue jays are the assholes of the bird world.  I recently had a finch nest on my front porch that hatched 5 eggs.  One morning before work a blue jay was perched on the wrought iron porch support looking at the nest and I shooed the bastard away.  Checked the nest for the next couple of days and one evening the finches were gone.  RIP, baby finches.

Yea blue jays are not nice birds.  Brown-headed cowbirds are similar except they lay their own eggs in a finches nest.  The finches then incubate and protect the eggs along with their own.  When the cowbird babies hatch they develop more quickly (because they hog all the food) than the finch babies, and eventually push the finch babies out of the nest to die on the ground.

A simple definition of mobbing is an assemblage of individuals around a potentially dangerous predator

Oh man, just had that yesterday right outside my office window.

Mean ol' Mr. Crow started to walk his a$$ up into the tree where Mr. and Mrs. Mockingbird had their nest.   Dax, being extremely smart knew exactly what was up. So Dax, being a friend of lovely voiced birds everywhere walked out his office and walked over to the tree where Mr. Crow flew off only to be met with an onslaught of dive bombs from the Mockingbirds, various Blackbirds, even the swallows engaged.

That'll teach ol' Mr. Crow I tell ya.

Other Avian events that have happened on or just right outside my office window:

A Falcon slammed into my office window chasing a blackbird, the Falcon got up dazed, got things righted and then flew off, the blackbrid, dead as a doornail . . . other birds were not happy with the Falcon.

An Osprey flew by carrying a mouse, all of sudden a Bald Eagle swoops in at the Osprey forcing the Osprey to drop the mouse, the Bald Eagle pirouettes, dove and snatched the mouse out of the air and flew off.

I have a yellow finch that firmly, but not full speed, rams the window two to three times a day for the last week or so.  really wants in for some reason.  After the last time each day, he lands on the sill and spreads his wings all the way out and tilts his head side to side a few times.  feels like he is giving me the bird version of the comeatmebro sign.

What should I do?

Do I need to be worried about some sort of finch retribution for some wrong I am unaware of having committed?

does said finch have talons? if not, then there's nothing to worry about.

Talons, no.  Friends, yes.  He appears to be the leader...

Also, there is a large quantity of bird poop on the driver side of my truck during the same time line

Bingo. I was hoping the goEMAW resident birding expert might have spent some time out in a blind on the Konza watching prairie chickens booming and/or had said renowned KSU ornithologist test him on how to identify a Ferruginous Hawk as opposed to a Roughlegged Hawk, a Downy Woodpecker vs. a Hairy Woodpecker etc.

I think we are thinking of different Sandercocks.
