reminds me of that austin powers quote "There are only two types of people I hate in this world: people who are intolerant of other peoples cultures, and van persie." or something like that.

Where did you guys learn to "speak soccer"? I mean I've never meet anyone that would say "the Queen's 4-4-2".

Well, England is the queen's team, and 4-4-2 is a formation that features four defenders, four midfielders, and two strikers.

I knew what it meant, but it's like when people talk soccer they speak/write differently than they do in real life.

How else would people overhearing/reading their convos know they're into soccer (hip)?

Well there are certain terms you learn by listening to the commentators and British studio analysts, but if you're talking about people who start saying things like "Bloody hell" when talking soccer, then yes it is annoying.

i def. understand the soccer speak problem. sometimes its kinda hard to distinguish what words you should and shouldn't use. for example: "pitch". i feel zero remorse using that word, but i am aware that most people who hear an american say it cringe. "futbol" would be the obvious rub here. maybe speaking about soccer in a less american way makes people feel more wordly?  :dunno:

I mean just look at that thing. That sort of skill and touch shouldn't exist.
