All my friends live in FL, they're still not showing love to Collin! I don't know what they're smoking but he's going to win!

K-State mask isn't the only person to get a letter from K-State.

No more t-shirts. Not totally surprised, intellectual property rights are pretty broad and it becomes an NCAA issue with elgibility, etc.

The images can still be used by individuals to promote, just can't put them on things and sell them.

What if you paid for them, and gave them to us for free?

If K-State is so upset with fans creating apparel, then maybe they should make better rough ridin' apparel.

Wonder what a License threw K-state for producers of apparel (GTM, N-Zone, and Ballards) Seems it might be worth looking into. If I remember right, when my brother and sister were looking to have hats and polo's made for my dad's hog business it was $100 dollars for the one time license.

You're referring to a license to print a powercat or K-State. The Issue is with the players name/likeness, which is a clear NCAA violation. The school must, under NCAA rules, take steps to stop the activity. If they don't, then the player could be deemed ineligible.

It isn't K-State's rule, they just have to be the ones enforcing it.

The Mask stuff is different -- that is K-State (I assume the trademark & licensing office) protecting it's trademark. That's the kind of thing you can pay to use.

I didn't mean to imply I got the same letter. This letter was like the letter I got for fear the beard. I knew I was pressing the boundries a bit, but since the previous rulings on intellectual property are so broad I took a shot. It was fun for a bit, I just like seeing good players from K-State get some attention and people like tshirts.

To be fair, it is my understanding K-State couldn't sell stuff like what I made to promote athletes either. The NCAA limits that to only the sale of jerseys by schools; they can't slap a player's name/image on a shirt and sell stuff like that. In everything I've done I've tried to be broad enough, but its tough to do.

So make a shirt with his unlikeness.  Put the opposite of #7, put a silhouette of someone fat and unathletic, and caption it with "Vote for you know who for that one trophy, EMAW!"

We'll all know who it is and that's all that matters.   :emawkid:

Correct, K-State couldn't use player names/likeness on a Tshirt either. They can sell a #7 jersey/shirt, but it can't say "KLEIN" on the back. Which is kinda silly by the NCAA, but whatever.

Like you said, its very tough to create a "legal" shirt, since what constitutes a "likeness" can be very vague. And most universities will err on the side of caution, since a player's eligibility is on the line.

Players kinda get screwed in the deal. The $$ made off t-shirts and whatnot (Yeah I know it's not much), they don't see a dime of even though they are the reason it was created.
Where did you get that overnight bag?

So how many of the Kleinsman7 shirts with goEMAW.com on the back got bought before being taken down?  Sounds like I've got a shirt that will be worth a ton someday.  :gocho:

What if they went the EA route and just sold shirts with a Mr Potato Head kit only the parts included combos that looked like Klein!

Also, could fan make a tank top with a fat Buddha in a downward dog with the caption "yoga like abana"? Because I would buy that.

Or what about a silhouette of a specific play with something like "Jordy burned Talib"? Because I would also buy the crap out of that.
"How will I recruit to Manhattan? Well, distance. And the proud state of basketball. It start there, and then daily flights to Dallas, because I'm really good at going out. Like top five good. Ask my wife. She wants me to be happy."

So YLA can't wear a #7 KSU jersey?
