There’s a really good one on Santa Fe in downtown OP that I’ve had before

Chewology had two really good apps (taiwanese fried chicken and cucumbers) and two mid-ish entrees.  I'll try it again, just felt on the cusp of being really great.

Yes also great. Seems always impossible to get into.

Closest to the theaters would be Lula.

Just a little too "we do everything local!" for my liking.  It's weird, but I'm a little suspicious of anyplace that sources ketchup locally.

Is K-Machos the king of tex mex in KC? I stopped by on my way through the burbs Saturday and found it quite delicious. Their margs weren't great but the food was.

Like I can kinda understand that, but they food is too good for me to write it off over the overly local part, or anything else for that matter.

Ketchup can only be made in a ketchup factory instead of just in the kitchen of the restaurant?

There has never ever been a good "ketchup" that's made by a chef in their restaurant. Call it something else if you want to make it but it's not ketchup.

Also any restaurant that serves food that normally goes with ketchup, yet doesn't serve ketchup for hipster reasons can get bent. I love fox and pearl but I think they do this. Silly.

I don't even LIKE ketchup and have these strong opinions.

Yes.  I'm not really a ketchup-head either, but it's a good indicator for me.

It's not Jose Peppers, but i agree. K-Machos is very very good.

big ketchup fan here. i have to agree that any kitchen-made ketchup is usually underwhelming, because my body is used to that sweet sweet sugary paste from the factories.

Yes.  Plus it's easier and almost certainly cheaper to just get the factory sugary paste.  Like I said, if you're sourcing local ketchup, i'm suspicious.  It suggests that place takes more pride in where their food/ingredients come from rather than how good their food tastes.  To me, Farmhouse is one of those places.
