He is a great coach but I just don't get why everyone is saying this?  They are loaded just like they are every year. :dunno:

Really is amazing what he has been able to do with this group.

A starting lineup of two top 10 big men, two top 10 guards, and another top 15 guard. I'm not sure amazing is the right word. A great job, but only amazing if he can win it. Playing without Marshall today was a huge break.

And what a run in the torn-a-ment. Can't remember all the way back to last weekend, but Purdue and North Carolina without its point guard, please please can K-State get such a bracket just once.

We can get that kind of bracket as soon as we get a 1 or 2 seed. We didn't even need to beat a 1 seed to get into the final 4 in 2010. I'm not sure why people try to belittle KU by saying they have an easy road. You earn the easy road during the regular season.

Our bracket wasn't too shabby in 2010. We played a 5 seed for a spot in the Final 4.

Out of all those talents, who was ranked that high at the beginning of the season? Only Robinson was supposed to be that good.

I hate Ku with a passion, but got to admit that this is Self's best coaching performance at KU.    I will agree with some of the other posts that KU does have talented players.   Some people act like their whole team is a bunch of Relefords and Tehans or something.    But Releford is a pretty weak 5th starter for what KU usually has and KUs bench is as weak as it has been in several years...... so his coaching job has been great

The stars aligned for KU getting to the Final 4.   They really did not do anything special to get there but they did avoid the big letdown that usually bites them in the ass.    I meen they tried to lose the Purdue game.

Now they get a legit and healthy Ohio St team.  Then Kentucky likely awaits for the winner on Monday.   Win those 2 games and you really have to go WOW at Self

Those are recruiting rankings. This team has a ton of talent. As has been stated, people act like he's taking 2/3 star talent to the Final Four. He's a great coach, but it isn't amazing that he can make it this far in the tournament. UNC went from a 6'4" top 10 point guard to a freshman Will Spradling. The one position KU could exploit the hell out of and it happened. Sucks we didn't get to see that game with Marshall. Would've been a great game to watch.

Sullinger is healthy now, which means Kansas will have no business winning.

Seriously? Amazing what writers will write just to tell a story. OSU relies as much if not more on their starting 5 than KU. Buford, Thomas, and Sullinger are great and Craft and Smith are decent players, but beyond that they have young talent that doesn't see the floor much.

Not to get defensive, but you can't be serious.  UNC has seven McDonald's All-Americans.  KU has zero.  We lost four starters from last year's team, and no one, including the people on this board, expected KU to win 30+ games and reach the Final Four.  Quit trying to downplay what Self has done with this team.  It's his best coaching job yet.

Amazing coaching job. Truly top-notch, mad respect. Not to get factual, but Wally Judge was McDAA. No arbitrary measure of pre-college skills can ignore KU has top-flight talent, with only mild depth compared to what they are used to. Pullen wasn't McD and there wasn't a team in the country that wouldn't have wanted him throughout his career. Still, glad we are getting rid of Frank and curious what Seff could do with the current roster.

Ooh, nice outfit. What is that, Dacron?

He seriously may be BITB.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Again, great coach, but this is a stupid point too.  It's like everyone is saying they just can't believe a great coach like Self did a great job.  He is one of the best coaches in the country.  Did KU fans not think he could coach a "not as loaded as usual" team?

Self is amazing but i'll maintain this is not his best 'coaching' performance.  he did an amazing job stockpiling talent so that he could replace 4 out of 5 starters and not miss a beat.  he has possibly two lottery picks playing 35 minutes per game.   not sure if Tyshawn is lottery or not but he is bad ass.

he took Roy's crap finished 2nd in conference and made it to an elite 8 in his first year and took the crap that lost to Wooly and won the conference.

His best coaching decision this year has been sitting that Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) Naadir Tharpe on the bench all game, every game. Hopefully Bill Franks him.
