i had a roommate (ya, it was a girl) that played college basketball, so i went to some of her games out of support.  and honestly it's exactly like i said, watching a bunch of grade school boys play bball.  i've watched baylor play for about 10 minutes earlier this year, and no, they don't look like that, but it's still boring as eff.

i don't care what the coaches are paid.  young girls like my townie cousin love it though, so might as well keep it around.

and to call anyone who doesn't like womens basketball a tuck is kind of funny since i'm pretty sure the only people that give 2 shits are old guys that want to see basketball from the 50's again and females under the age of 13.

Women's basketball is useless, the lesbian makes too much money

Ooooohhhhhh so edgy.  Some of you are more tuckish than you're willing to see.

Bonnie Hendrickson at KU currently makes $635,000 per year.  In 2009, she got paid $1.8 million, about $1.3 million of which was a bonus for making it through five years without getting fired for cause.  Poor performance is not considered cause.  She never made the NCAA tournament until this year as an 11 seed.  Here are her Big 12 coaching records:

2005:  5-11
2006:  5-11
2007:  4-12
2008:  4-12
2009:  6-10
2010:  5-11
2011:  6-10
2012:  8-10

Would you believe she got an extension, bonus, and pay raise in 2009?  We are living the high-life over here compared to those suffering through 8 years of Bonnie-Ball and genuinely overpaying for it.

Bonnie has been plagued with injuries her entire time at KU, and has improved the program on a year-to-year basis since taking over.  The process has been slow, but KU was doing really well this year until our best player (Caroline Davis) went out with an ACL injury.  We play Delaware in the NCAA tournament tomorrow, so I'd say our season has been just as good as K-State's.  I doubt we'll set an NCAA record for lowest point total in an NCAA tournament game.

Deb's a good coach, no doubt.  All she has to do is beat KU and make the post season, and she'll have a lifetime contract.  That's pretty much the standard for every single head coach in K-State's athletic department.  Forget championships.  Just beat KU and don't miss the post season and K-State fans will be content.

Dude, outside of men's basketball you just described the entire ku athletic department.  Beat KSU/MU, no one will show up, don't say too much stupid stuff, wash, rinse, repeat.

Gill got canned because he couldn't beat us.

Gill got canned because he couldn't beat anybody.  Outside of that, I agree with you, friend.

Did any of you guys ever overhear one of those "Our women's team could beat our men's team" conversations during the Kendra Wecker era?  Because I did.  It was too facepalmy to even engage that.

This was a semi regular topic on GPC at the time, as was the difference in the size of basketballs and it's effects on shooting.

Why do they get a smaller ball and closer three point stripe?

They don't get a lower basket.  Though, I wish they did so they could dunk.

Also, why do baseball coaches wear the same uniform as the coaches?  Are they eligible to play?  They look silly.   What if Snyder wore football pants?   Good grief.

They no longer get a closer 3-point line.  It is now the same as the men's 3-point line and went into effect this past season.  If you will notice, our new floor this year only had one 3-point line.

Kansas to the Sweet 16. Unbelievable.  :runaway:

What is Deb doing? Why does she get housed by UConn? Why is she allergic to the Sweet 16!?

My favorite Deb Story  ...

In December 2004, miscommunication created staff problems. A piece of film equipment was left in Manhattan when the team played a game at Kansas City. Then a mixup with bags on a trip to Springfield, Mo., meant Patterson and Ethridge didn't have scouting tapes with them when they flew out for the holiday break.

Three of the team's managers -- Ashley Kaiser, Michele Holaday and Michelle Reed -- were blamed. The three made the trip with the team to Philadelphia on Christmas Day 2004, and they were responsible for bringing all the equipment needed for K-State to play two games at St. Joseph's. That evening, according to the three, they were summoned to Patterson's hotel room and told that she had purchased tickets for them to fly home the next day.

The three managers said Patterson yelled at them and showed them documents about how much her program spent on their scholarships. They said they were told they had an hour to think about things. All three decided they would resign.

The managers said they had been put on three-day suspension on another occasion because Patterson had been angry about where ballracks had been positioned at practice. They said they had been in other meetings with Patterson and Ethridge in which the coaches questioned their "heart."

"We worked 70 hours a week for them. And we had no problem doing it; we would have done anything for them or the team," Kaiser said. "But we had been verbally attacked so often, we had decided as a group if it happened again, we couldn't continue.

"Coach P dug me out of the dumps, she gave me an opportunity. She really was a factor in me changing my life around. That night, I thanked her for that. But I also said, 'In trying to be 'selfless' for you, I've lost all sense of myself.' "

The managers say they did tasks such as moving furniture at the home Patterson and Ethridge share, picking up dry cleaning, buying groceries and taking care of the coaches' dogs.

Weiser said managers' duties at K-State are typically defined by the coach they work for, but he acknowledged that some of the chores these managers said they performed "would not be, to me, an acceptable use."

Ethridge said none of those duties were a "requirement" for the managers.

"Was their job dependent on doing those courtesies and errands for the staff? Absolutely not," Ethridge said. "Did they do things? Absolutely. Do players do things for one another? Do coaches do things for each other? Do people do things for each other in the course of a very people-oriented environment? Absolutely. Is it required? No.

"We had relationships with these kids. They did a lot of great things. They also needed to do what our entire staff asked them to do."

The managers flew home the day after Christmas, and K-State administrative assistant Kathy Bettencourt picked them up at Kansas City International airport. The managers said Bettencourt was crying when they arrived. She'd had to purchase the tickets for Patterson a week earlier and had not been able to tell the three. Bettencourt confirmed the managers' account but said she preferred not to comment publicly. She resigned at the end of that season after working eight years for Patterson. Smith and White also resigned after the 2005 season.

Not true dumbass.   Ever rough ridin' heard of soil judging?  Meat judging?  Debate?  Forensics?  Those teams compete at the very highest levels and have won NATIONAL championships.   Their coaches make a fraction of what Deb Patterson makes.

Who is misinformed now, you son of a bitch!
