Never going to be big time . . .
« on: March 17, 2012, 02:55:07 PM »
and no I am not saying that we would have won today.

But having JaSam in there couldn't have hurt.

But the real point . . . as long as we have resume building, grand standing, self serving snakes running the K-State athletic department, we're never going to win anything significant in basketball.

Now, if the resume building, grand standing, self serving snakeing is done to ensure and secure victory for EMAW then that's fine.   But if it's a "oh look at how clean I am, look at how I nipped that in the bud" guy, forget about it Cat fans, no trophies for you!!

Anything short of an FBI sting operation catching JaSam accepting 2 giant duffel bags of cash and JaSam plays today.

As my astute friend Wabash said on the phone a little bit ago.

They hand Cheyenne Zulu a check at ku and tell him to make Bill Self Happy . . . come on, who here thinks that the guys on ku or any other program of stature aren't "talking" to people they shouldn't be.   You think Cheyenne Zulu raise a ruckus 24 hours before a 2nd round NCAA tourney game.   Eff NO!!

Damn it!!

Can you imagine the crap storm Self would throw if Zulu did this to him?

That's the part I don't understand.  How does crap like this help ANYONE, much less Currie and his resume?

Frank's probably thinking the same thing. Where's the commitment, jackass?

I'll say it. Fire Currie.

And just think...they went out and found Currie's dumb ass when they could have hired a perfectly legitimate AD like Zulu.

posted this in another thread:

it's these guys.

Currie brought in Jamie Vaughn to head up the Compliance Office in 2009 and there has been a suffocating culture of over-compliance in all of the athletic programs since.

I really, really, want to know how all of this crap went down.

So, did the NCAA call up Currie and tell him that K-State and JaSam may have a problem?

I find that hard to believe unless somebody else out there is talking to the NCAA.   Otherwise the NCAA is nothing but a reactionary organization.

I'll only amend or take back my comments if its officially announced that it was the NCAA that contacted K-State.

The other thing everyone seems to be ignoring is the fact that this could be a "this crap's gonna get out eventually and if we don't report it now we're REALLY mumped later" type of situation.  :dunno:

We don't even know what happened and who knew what and when.  If Jamar did something stupid that was bound to come out and Currie made the decision to report it now and have him sit rather than face the possibility of stronger team/program sanctions next year, then he made the right decision.  I love how everyone on here jumps to conclusions without knowing AN-Y-THING (in a BITB voice).  :jerk:

If Frank had come straight out and said that JaSam eff'd up and had to pay the price, but that's clearly not where Frank's mind is at and that is very telling.

Well why wait for the facts to come out?  Let's just toss the entire AD's office under the rough ridin' bus and assume we know what happened without any facts whatsoever.  Seems reasonable.  We can always take it back later when we know something.

No, I like throwing the AD under the bus Rams.

It has all the appearances of an over zealous compliance office and AD being over officious jerks . . . and of course for those ITK, they know that our esteemed AD has been throwing his hat in the ring for other jobs for quite some time now.

this is the second episode of this kind of thing in the last two seasons. the first two times it happened (pullen and kelly), it turned out to be a couple of rough ridin' t-shirts that they paid a little bit less for because they knew some girl working in the mall. and our athletic department STILL saw the need to throw the team under the bus and report it, within 24 hours of a game.

so until proven otherwise, i'm going to assume that this is some stupid rough ridin' issue that any other athletic department that wants to win in the country would just make go away and not report to the rough ridin' NCAA.

i'm telling you, our athletic department has earned this reputation.

Rams . . . the real point here, at any big time school, they laugh, they laugh and go play some basketball.

How bad could it have been if what Jamar did was something so small that whether he could play or not wasn't decided until minutes before the game, with the possibility of him being able to play in the second half?

You literally have no idea whether or not any of the statements you made in this post are true.  You assume...but you don't know.

and that's my point.

So it wasn't a last minute decision, K-State media sources weren't tweeting about "efforts" to get JaSam "cleared" were ongoing, while the game was going on?
