i'm sure steve dave already knows this, because he is an incredibly gifted sports bettor and has data tracing back to the late 1960s, but here's an interesting little nugget that regular folks like myself were not aware of previously:

k-state is believed to be the largest favorite ever in an 8/9 game.

over the last five years (20 games), the 8-seed has been favored by an average of just 0.43 points.

the cats opened as 7.5-point favorites and are currently favored by six.
