FreundinSonntag has a treadmill but every time i run on it, i punch in my GPS measured outdoor pace and i can't run half as far as i'd normally expect to.   Is the issue the slight incline?  Is it that I'm running at a constant speed where, as GPS shows, i kind of fluctuate up and down for an outdoor run?  Or, could it be the treadmill?  My working theory is that the motor isn't strong enough to run at a constant speed, so when i footstrike it slows down and when i push back off it speeds up, robbing the spring from my step and making me work harder.

I suppose objectively, its NBD, if i can work up a sweat, get winded, feel some burn, its doing its job BUT it frustrates me as i try to track my splits!
I find that a fan helps. On the TM, there's no air movement and your body heat stays. Thus, HR is higher trying to cool down the body.

It's possibly due to a change in your running gait. Most runners inadvertently change gait on the treadmill due to the moving belt. I have to really focus on a forward body lean and knee drive to avoid a hard heel strike. The hard heel strike gives a breaking action.

I'd go with body heat as the likely culprit.
I have a very concencious gait. When I was younger I ran with a gait that was exclusively heal strikes.  As I got older and had great problems with shin splints I actually quit running.  Switching to barefoot for a time taught me how to run properly and I make sure I maintain a barefoot style gait whenever I run, so I don't think it's that.   I'll try the fan and see how much that helps, though the distance before I start having to drop below my normal pace is low enough I wouldn't think that'd have time to have an affect.

I occasionally binge on vodka or whisky on the rocks.  Also, once in the routine it usually takes way less booze than normal to achieve the desired effect.

Haven't had a drink or a heater since Sunday. Good for me, which is sad, I know. 18 miles in this week. Nipples look like Rudolph's nose. The bandaids only stay on for so long after I sweat.  :frown:

It's 2017 how can nipple chafing still be an unsolved problem?  I'm going to do some research on this.

I never had these problems in college or my late 20's. I use to put up some serious miles then too. I believe my nipples have grown larger.  :curse:

I don't really pay attention to macros or any of that stuff, though maybe I should.

I just keep carbs below 20g a day and try to be cognizant of electrolyte intake and weight seems to come off.

You really don't eat fruit.. a couple berries maybe every so often but fruit is mainly sugar.  As far as veggies... 2 cups of roasted broccoli is only about 10 carbs...

Are we talking net carbs or total carbs here?

This board almost talked me into trying keto, but then it quickly talked me right back out of it.

Don't blame you.  It's pretty legit and not for everybody.

Have any keto-dudes monitored their caloric intake before and after starting a keto diet?  It seems like having a complicated diet that restricts most crave-able foods is bound to get you to eat less in general.

I was eating roughly about the same amount of calories before keto as I am now.  I didn't monitor macros much with it.....but I didn't see much movement in the weight department.  Once I hopped on the keto train, the weight really started to move.  As a plus, I was less hungry throughout the day too.

Are you wearing shirts with a lot of texture or something?  My goodness

Or try these:

I wear light cotton shirts and a bunch of under armour stuff from Mrs. Wacky's old job. They usually strengthen up after two weeks of getting back into it tho.

With keto you only count the net carbs though.....so if something has 10 total carbs but 6 g are fiber....you only count that as 4g to your tally for the day.

I'm sort of doing both.  I have restricted my caloric intake and removed the carbs.  I will increase the calories the more active I get here in the next few weeks.
