Most of the carbs we eat are from grains.  Grains are being shown to be highly inflammatory.  The spikes in blood sugar from a heavy carb diet are also hell on the pancreas.   It's not just about body fat with being fat adapted it's just as much about eliminating chronic inflammation that leads to a host of nasty diseases later in life.

there's also a lot of new science that says drinking fairly heavily and combining that with drinking a lot of coffee is good for you. science is coming around to my lifestyle.

Life is great for us these days.

I have heard the pee strip test can provide a lot of false positives and false negs.  Also, there are three types of ketone bodies and the pee test only detects one of the two kinds that combined make up only 20% of the ketone types produced.  I don't remember the name of the third kind, but when your body is making ketones, 80% are the third kind, that the pee test doesn't detect.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a blood meter either.  I have decided that if I feel energetic, level, and have 50g or fewer carbs a day, I am doing fine.

What was tour strip reading?

Also, I guess it is best to test in the late afternoon and not after you have worked out.

It was like, 60 mg/dL.  I figured I had to be in the zone, given that i've been under 25 g/day all week.  False positive or not, the piss test made me feel validated.

That would be really tough and still hitting fiber and other vitamin daily needs.  It's tough to hit fiber for me and I eat a bunch of veg and take benefiber as a supplement.

Yep. Just a little exhausted, though still ran 5 miles this weekend and walked another 5.

I just avoid carb heavy veggies.  So far, I've just been sticking to avocado (that fat ),  cauliflower, broccoli and spinach.

gonna look into chia seeds

JFC, just eat in moderation and you don't have to do all that crazy crap.

There is a lot of newish science on this not being true.  I mean, I heard a podcast yesterday discussing a study where they took three groups of adult men, one group had a common high carb diet, one a high protein diet, and one a high fat diet.  All three categories were fed 2000 cal/day.  I don't recall how long the study lasted, but the carb ppl actually gained weight, the protein group lost a moderate amt, and the fat diet folks lost something like 4 times as much as the protein ppl.

Cal in/cal out may not be reality.

The thing about newish food science is that it has repeatedly lasted for a few years or a decade or two, sold a shitload of diet books, and then been proven false.

Also, calories in / calories out is incontrovertibly true. However, we have a fairly poor understanding of both the energy we absorb from food, and the energy the human body expends, especially for internal processes.

That said, I mostly do a modified keto style diet, plus lots of booze carbs.
:adios:

i made wings last night in the oven. wing sauce + butter, mix the wings in with half the sauce, broil those puppies for ten minutes, flip, another ten minutes. pull them out and mix them with the rest of the sauce. crispy and good! was pleasantly surprised.

I made a bunch (~2lbs) of buffalo pulled chicken last night!  I too loaded it up with butter.
