So, what is a cleanse supposed to cleanse out of your body that your body doesn't already do?  Also, why would the effects of a cleanse have any benefit after you go off the cleanse?

Cleanses sound like a really good way to make yourself miserable, then almost immediately lose all benefit afterward.

It's like a yo-yo diet for someone with a short attention span?

I have never been on one.  Someone enlighten me.

So, what is a cleanse supposed to cleanse out of your body that your body doesn't already do? nothing, except for maybe if you're super addicted to caffeine

Also, why would the effects of a cleanse have any benefit after you go off the cleanse? because you lost weight during it. other than that, nothing.

Cleanses sound like a really good way to make yourself miserable, then almost immediately lose all benefit afterward. i wouldn't say miserable. in fact that's something you can learn from it. kind of makes you realize that eating super healthy doesn't change your life THAT much.

It's like a yo-yo diet for someone with a short attention span? yes, pretty much

I have never been on one.  Someone enlighten me.

i agree that 'cleanse' is a stupid word, it's just how we're referring to it. seriously, i'm not doing it for any other reasons than having a post-holidays super healthy 10 day span to kick off some weight loss, and to challenge myself to see if i can do it. if i gain it all back in a week like a dumbass then it will have been for nothing. i was also curious to see how i would feel without having any caffeine, and it hasn't really affected me much. so i guess it's good to know i'm not clinically addicted like some people claim to be?

A cleanse is like spring cleaning. Will you eventually be back where you started? Yes. But it is nice to have a fresh start. If weight really matters to anyone, it shouldnt, cleaning out your colon is a good way to shed some pounds.

When I was watching Point Break and those guys were rock climbing and just hanging by one arm, holding themselves up, it really made me feel weak.

Maybe not to a normal functioning person, but with ppl who have the risk of diabetes, family genetics (like the manginos), etc. It does. Some ppl have never been overweight in their life or have great genetics, that's why they think weight doesn't matter.

I hate cardio as it is so boring. I think I am going to start boxing lessons in February. Girl I know who does this says it is the best workout she has ever done.

I need to add more cardio.  I am trying to lose actual weight as well as drop my BF% through a bunch of lifting complexes with minimal rest.  My problem is that my weight is staying put while by BF drops.  I mean, I don't want to complain about that, but ultimately I want both.  I hate cardio, but running tonight.  Ugh.

I'm averaging 6 miles a day in 55 minutes right now, which means, I never want to lift afterwards. trying to lose a quick 5-10 lbs before I get back into lifting.

Aren't you supposed to lift before cardio for this exact reason?

Yep, but running after blowing out some awesome lifts is really hard on wobbly legs and torso.

Yeah, I figure you're screwed either way. When I lose the 10 lbs, i'll back it down to a cool 2-3 miles and then lift. Seemed to work in the past.

Skinny "fat" sucks, guys. It just sets around your belly and everything else is skinny. When I lose the 10 lbs, i'll be able to see results then.

Cut out sugar, booze, and processed foods.  Eat meat, veggies, and some fruit (not juice).  Cut out dairy too if you really want results.  Sugar is what's making you fat. Not lack of cardio.

Yeah, I barely ever eat sugar. My bros a personal trainer, so I get it. I don't booze until the weekend now and I pretty much eat chicken, steak, veggies, protein bars, and salads during the week. I gained weight, because I didn't give a damn these last two months.
