Berkshire around 5pm is not a place I like to go. More eye candy but also a lot of stereotypical gym folk. No thanks. Absence of KSU may have something to do with that. I'll take my middle aged folks and one cutie at Western Hills.

Yes. But the last part was a joke. I meant to ask if others have found it useful for noticing progress and looking back.

I need help and advice. I have a gym membership and am going to start using it. I'd like to be futbol fit. I'm 5'11 and 170 getting soft in some areas. Anyway, advice? I'd like to work out 3 times a week. I guess help with a routine and/or diet. Should I seek professional help? Tia.

Strong lifts 5x5. Best/easiest routine you will find. It is a lifting routine, so if you aren't into that disregard. There is an app that makes it dummy proof or you can just google it and remember the 3-4 lifts.

Stupid Fitz's suggestion is pretty good. 5x5 is a good program. The guy behind Strong Lifts is a douchenozzle, but that really isn't pertinent.

What do you guys think of this knee brace?
http://www.betterbraces.com/donjoy-reaction-knee-brace

It has a 60 day return policy. Just have to pay for return shipping. Is it worth it to try it out?

5x5's are great.  They leave you feeling amazing.  I modify to some of the 5 having more reps on certain workouts to add a little more of a cardio component(ex KB swings at 12 reps rather than 5, and pull ups 8-10 reps). easily my fav workout in my repertoire.

I've tried some sleeves (not as expensive as those) and the problem is that they either slip down or bunch up in the back of my knee.
I actually ordered some Rock Tape to try. Should get it tomorrow.

I am not opposed to spending a bit of money on a brace, but I don't want to spend a bunch and then it not work.
That Better Braces website had a Brace Advisor where you tell it what you are using it for and it makes suggestions. That was the top suggestion, and a friend who is doing similar activities and had similar issues suggested Don Joy.

knee braces suck. it's a poor idea to lock your joints into fixed ranges of motion. If the brace slips, you can really eff up your knee. For the brace not to slip, you have to cinch up the top strap to the point where it cuts off circulation. You'd be better off not wearing one, and working on fixing the anatomical issues causing you problems.

i wish. the original blue ones are the choice of most top-level strength athletes who wear knee sleeves. i owned a pair of them for some time. i lost them, tho.

BTW, most of my use is for martial arts (spinning kicks wear on the knee a lot), although I also do some strength training.

Here is Frank Mir wearing one of these sleeves in a UFC title fight where he snapped Antonio Nogueira's forearm with a kimura. I think you'll be okay.

edit: I was mistaken. It was not a title fight.
