I always thought getting ripped was about eating a lot of chicken, brown carbs, etc. but i also read that you can eat a lot of carbs and still cut if you eat a caloric deficit.

came up with a rough plan that isn't super low carb if 2nd is true, that wouldn't involve cooking. i will aim for about 2200 calories, 2400 i would guess is maintenance. 2 of my meals a day will be white rice or noodles plus meat (usually fatty and oily). that's 1600 calories and 240g carbs. then the rest will be protein chowder, peanut butter, and eggs, which i would adjust week to week as i weigh myself. how does this look, i'm 6' 173, would guess 15% body fat, and goal is to get below 10%.

My trainer has me at 54% protein, 23% fat, and 23% carbs.  It makes me really have to focus on basically everything I put in my mouth having some protein.  Some days I have to eat a couple apples late evening just to catch my carbs up. Some days I have to slam an entire pouch of albacore in the evening to catch my protein up.  Fat is the one that I have to really work at to keep below it's percentage.

I am eating right around 2400 cal a day and I haven't been really hungry in like 3 weeks.

I am strong'ish, but not like crazy strong.  I am just kinda big.  I have about 30 pounds I want to lose(have already lost 10 in the last 3 weeks on this macro thing).

My maint calories are pretty high.  The different calc's I have used has it anywhere from 3400 to 4k.  I have a hard time believing most of the calcs though because the same calcs say I burn a ridic amt of calories compared to what something like a fitness mag would lead you to believe you should burn doing that activitiy.  For example, it is nothing for a 45 min weight circuit workout to show up as 600-700 cal according to my fitbit, my past Body bug type arm band, MFP, and other online calcs.    A normal Sat, according to those things, is usually around 6k calories burnt and a normal weekday is between 4400-5500 cals.   Given the high numbers, I just don't really trust that this is the case, which is why I got on with the current trainer to get into the macros.

Anyone have any first-hand experience with the Elevation Mask?  Toyed with the idea of getting one this past spring but never did, looking into it again now.

gimmick

real elevation has less air(oxygen) per unit volume, this thing just makes it harder to breath normal air.

i guess it probably does give the muscles required for inhalation a workout though

Have you read the NAIT study?  Are the methods flawed you think?

i googled the study to find the flaws and the flaw is that there were only 14 subjects.

I was thinking about this some more.  If the overall volumetric flow of air is reduced, then of course the total mass of oxygen flow is reduced.  So think in that respect the device works.

But does reducing the mass flow of oxygen available condition the lungs or the body or whatever to be more efficient with that it gets?  Million dollar question right there bub.

do it, man! post a review

also, have you considered instead of spending $100 dollars on the jillian michaels bane mask kit, you just buy an $8 respirator from home depot?

I had not considered that, no.  Do the respirators have ways of adjusting the amount breathing can be constricted?

i know you have a power drill and duct tape

drill holes for more air, duct tape over holes for less air

I think it might be easier just to do the 1-click thing with Amazon Prime.  Obivously I'm into doing things the easy way if I'm open to cheeky gimmicks.

Just working out in a drywall mask would limit your air.  I mean, you couldn't necessarily rely on how much or how consistent, but working hard in a mask rough ridin' sucks, so maybe try that?   :dunno:

BTW, why would you want to limit your oxygen?

Is that something you can train for given that you are going back to normal flat-lander oxygen as soon as you take off the mask?  It has been 15 yrs, but the two times I went, we were told to get there two days early and hike to acclimate.  I have no idea which is better, btw.
