This tread has been quiet. I hope none of you guys are actual fatties right now. That would be lame.

i am still feeling it in my quads and hamstrings, but you know what you guys, its rough ridin' worth it because this cat is getting back in shape  :emawkid:

Me too, Big Train!! I really hate running. Trying to flip tires, do ropes, push a sled as much as I can. But sometimes I'll run a couple blocks in between sets and it's not as bad as I think.

I don't want to do pushups because I hurt my wrist a week ago and it is still sore....so is there anything I can do instead to target the same muscle groups without stressing my wrist? Actually knuckle pushups (which I usually do) hurt my wrist less than normal ones (since it keeps the wrist straight) but I can only do so many of those before my knuckles hurt and I've been trying to do more pushups lately.

Some form of bench and/or dips. You can try different push-up width types (close/wide/etc). Also try using tape/wraping that wrist tightly

Why would anyone do push-ups instead of chin-ups?

Because they are a girl with weak arms? And that assisted pull up thingy at the Y is in the middle of all the meatheads.

I feel intimidated when lifting weights around people who know what they are doing.

Because in my head they are staring at me and saying to each other "Look at that weak girl over there who can't even do a real pull up. Her form is terrible."

At the gym, there is probably a Smith machine

Lower the bar to the lowest setting and use it to do push ups.

Or, go grab the dumb bells that have a hex head on them and use them to do push ups with(and add a row in between if you are feeling badass), or see if your gym owns a set of ThePerfectPushUp things.

All of those would be a form of a pushup and give you the bar to grab rather than you bending your hands out flat.

Yes, I have done the dumbbell pushup (with row) before. Also, I do own a set of Perfect Pushups but the last time I tried (a long time ago) it was very difficult to do the pushup with the turning motion (weak girl arms).

Well, don't turn them on the way up.  Just keep the wrist straight.

Also, if you do have troubs with pushups right now, the smith machine would be great.  The higher the bar, the less weight, the easier the push up.  So, if you have trouble completing something like 8-10 in one set, raise the bar.  That is where I would start.  Keep the wrist issue from being an issue, and get an actual good form 'shup in and in a quantity that will actually help you build towards doing them on the floor.

I can do pushups normally, just right now my wrist is sore and I don't want to irritate it further. Usually I can do 10 knuckle pushups but I want to do more than 10 and my knuckles can't take more than 10.

A guy at the golf course told me something once that has really stuck with me, as I am usually intimidated by folks who do things far better than I.  I told him I got nervous with others watching me tee off.  He said most folks aren't that interested in what others are doing. They don't care how I play golf unless I'm about to kick their butts.  I've since applied that to lots of situations and I'm far more relaxed about it.

Go to a different gym.  I mean, if you want to see a collection of unintimidating ppl, when it comes to athletic prowess, look at your local YMCA.  The Y's mascot should be a slightly overweight middle aged person who hasn't done crap for the last ten yrs.

Forreal, people only will stare at you if they get pissed that youre taking too long using a specific machine or whatever. And if youre really intimidated, make gooch go with you and have him whip his schlong out. Thats counter intimidation my friends
