Are good old fashioned leg curls not cool anymore?  1 set of hammy for every 1 set of quaddy is the rule of thumb.

Leg curls aren't/ shouldn't be used as a primary movement. Machines can be tough on joints because of the fixed motion. They're fine for assistance work.

Your average person is going to have an underdeveloped posterior chain, thanks to modern life. Most people should focus more on their backside, same goes of the upper body.

Just learned about Quest Bars... Anybody else eat these?

A friend of mine that does fitness comps turned me on to em for snacks and the damn things are like crack if you microwave em for about 20 seconds.

I assume the split squats you do don't have a jump and leg switch at the top?

If that's what you've been doing, then stop being such a weirdo immediately and start lifting some serious giant-appropriate weight to get those weak hammies right.  Good grief man, jumping around like that at your size and age.

I do split leg jumps all the freaking time. I like adding explosive movement stuff. But then again, I do everything

Explosive movements are pretty cool. Good for everything from sports to delivering a flying knee to somebody's solar plexus after they tried to punk you at a tailgate.

Anyone else have trouble with squats?  My heart starts racing every time pretty good. It seems like no lift should be this difficult.

Squats are more of a full body lift than you might think. Do you do other full body lifts such as dead lift or overhead press?

I don't, guess I should look into that. Love the early results so far, but still hate nearly every single rep.

Overhead press is the one life I pretty much do every week, plus accessories. You can do it strict (don't bend your knees) or you can bend your knees to help you press more weight.

Standing overhead press is a great movement. I like to pause for a couple seconds with the weight over my head. Great core exercise having to stabilize that weight.

We have a log at my gym. Weights a hundred pounds with no weights on it, but it has a place to add weights juts like a barbell. I like to do overhead press with it weightless, take one step with it over my head, bring it down, and repeat ten times, then walk back to my starting spot with it over my head.

Also, down to 230. I had to pick up some paperwork from the doctor and saw that I weighed in at 244 at the beginning of the year. Wow, what a journey it's been.

Also, how dumb is BMI? How does anyone in the medical field still use that?

So maybe it has been talked about and maybe it hasn't, I don't feel like looking. Let's talk about the most overrated thing ever. BMI. I mean  who created this? Probably like a 5'2" 100 lb weekling. Amiright!?

I mean I'm not in the best shape yet(although I'm down 15lbs  :emawkid:) But good grief it's a joke.

It's pretty stupid

I failed my first set of squats yesterday...

but it was a weight (HAR!) off of my shoulder to finally drop one.  i was kinda putting too much pressure on myself to keep the streak going.
