So we don't have a kinesiology thread, but I pop my neck like at least 3 times a day, like sometimes I pop it like people pop necks in the movies. Is this bad? I literally should have died like 3 times popping my neck 5 min ago, but didn't, obviously.  Is this as bad as popping my knuckles, which I also do????????

I've never popped my neck once in my life, but my gf used to do it constantly and freak me out. Apparently it's just water and other junk popping in between your joints. Something like that.

Quite the argument/discussion at my gym today on hook grip vs alternating grip on deadlifts. My question; has anyone really torn their bicep using alternating grip (have you seen it), and if so were they the kind of person that does curls on the same day as deadlifts, and/or does not know how to stretch their bicep properly?

Pushed a few rocks around this morning (that's what I call lifting weights).  Just a few 15 lb bicep curls and 20 lb triceps extensions.  Feelin' pretty swole.

it's usually the tendon that tears. it usually happens with people who are juicing. I prefer hook grip because I stopped having tendinitis once I started using it. A common thing I see with people using mixed grip is twisting under load, and that is not a good thing. Hook grip usually eliminates that, as well.

Good answer, that all makes sense. I don't think I twist, and I don't see anyway id ever tear a muscle. Im not hugely muscle bound or anything, I stretch, and I was doing reps today with close to 400 lbs and felt fine. Hook grip just destroys my hands.

I have never tried hook grip but it looks absolutely horrible when I looked it up.

"Guys, anyone have a good idea on how I can really pinch the crap out of my thumb today and maybe grind it in super painfully too?"

Hook grip is the answer, right?

I have used alt grip and double overhand.  Double overhand feels weird and unstable.  Alt grip just feels right and safe to me.  I have never had any troubs twisting and have used it for heavy loads.  That said, I have been using trap bar and individual dumbells the last year exclusively and don't do the heavy weight I used to.
