Gov. Bob McDonnell today signed contentious legislation mandating that a woman undergo an ultrasound before having an abortion, sending the measure on a course to Virginia’s law books.

A mandate like this is ok...even if it infringes on a woman's rights. But if the government infringes on the churches rights by providing members of their church contraception....that's called marxist socialist..fox news talking points exhibit A.

So, in summary. Govt mandates are bad...unless its something they want.

How is this infringing on a woman's right? They are still free to have their abortion, and they would have an ultrasound  anyway. They just have to wait 24 hours after the ultrasound. I would also assume since they are having an sex and an abortion, the ultrasound would not infringe on their religious beliefs. Maybe they are afraid of the heartbeat?

how is it even possible that someone could miss the point here?

Isn't this just another example of big government telling someone what they can or can't do? Oh wait, nope not in this case because its something the small government minded folks want to control or abolish. So in this instance....this law is ok. Also, an ultrasound is not required for an abortion but it will be with this bill.

Don't want an abortion. Don't get one.

As far as the GOP attack on Obama....
No one has ever been able to explain how the government has infringed on the church's rights by offering a service in which there is demand. If there was no demand, there would be no problem. But that's the problem. The women may be Catholic...but they aren't well, ya know, CATHOLIC. If you know what I mean.

One last question... How come the politicians who are determined to know what is going one between a women's legs, male.? They always seem to be sans-vagina. Odd.

She could always just pay someone to hit her in the stomach with a baseball bat, that would avoid the insane civil rights violation of having to wait 24 hours to kill an unborn child.

Basically the same big government stuff as dictating the contents and provisions of trillions of dollars worth of insurance contracts.  Great analogy.

Have you read the Bill? I'll assume not.

It now REQUIRES: (i'll help)

re·quire? ?[ri-kwahyuhr]  Show IPA verb, -quired, -quir·ing.
verb (used with object)
1.
to have need of; need: He requires medical care.
2.
to call on authoritatively; order or enjoin to do something: to require an agent to account for money spent.
3.
to ask for authoritatively or imperatively; demand.
4.
to impose need or occasion for; make necessary or indispensable: The work required infinite patience.

that a woman obtain an ultrasound 24 hours before the abortion. It wasn't required before. Now it is.

In summary, forced procedure which has never been a part of the entire abortion procedure is now required by this bill.

Also, for the budget hawks.....because I know how the Tea Party types just love to talk about how much health care costs,....Have they taken into consideration about how much more expensive this bill will make abortion by requiring an ultrasound? (crickets)

Oh wait, that's the idea. Make it more expensive that way it can be attacked from a financial as well as a moral standpoint. Nice.

That's the great thing about "states rights.". I don't really care about a law in Virginia. Let them decide whether they like it or not. And those who disagree can move.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

See: Jim Crow/Northern Migration.  I guess that worked out best for evryone and lynchings/burning crosses were the "push" half of the migration.

Yep right into the loving arms of organized labor.  Those wonderful race wars.

Nevermind the inept analogy above, lets talk about the civil rights of the unborn child.  Notoriously left winged, pro choice plaintiff's attorneys will tell you life begins 270 days before birth, that is, if you have a civil lawsuit against an individual with liability insurance.

Dont you have to have an US birth certificate to be granted civil rights? For all I care it's an illegal immigrant. Deport/abort!

Yup, libs love to compare their modern crusades, or the things they're  crusading against, to slavery and segregation. They do the same thing with gay marriage. The funny thing is, you never want to make the mistake of making the gay marriage / civil rights movement analogy to Al Sharpton. Dude will blow up.

How is the government forcing someone to undergo an elective medical procedure going to shrink government?

States can do what they want. I care about Kansas, and the federal gov.

States have the power to pass such laws, whether they are wise or not.
