Gov. Bob McDonnell today signed contentious legislation mandating that a woman undergo an ultrasound before having an abortion, sending the measure on a course to Virginia’s law books.
A mandate like this is ok...even if it infringes on a woman's rights. But if the government infringes on the churches rights by providing members of their church contraception....that's called marxist socialist..fox news talking points exhibit A.
So, in summary. Govt mandates are bad...unless its something they want.
How is this infringing on a woman's right? They are still free to have their abortion, and they would have an ultrasound anyway. They just have to wait 24 hours after the ultrasound. I would also assume since they are having an sex and an abortion, the ultrasound would not infringe on their religious beliefs. Maybe they are afraid of the heartbeat?
how is it even possible that someone could miss the point here?
Isn't this just another example of big government telling someone what they can or can't do? Oh wait, nope not in this case because its something the small government minded folks want to control or abolish. So in this instance....this law is ok. Also, an ultrasound is not required for an abortion but it will be with this bill.
Don't want an abortion. Don't get one.
As far as the GOP attack on Obama....
No one has ever been able to explain how the government has infringed on the church's rights by offering a service in which there is demand. If there was no demand, there would be no problem. But that's the problem. The women may be Catholic...but they aren't well, ya know, CATHOLIC. If you know what I mean.
One last question... How come the politicians who are determined to know what is going one between a women's legs, male.? They always seem to be sans-vagina. Odd.
You said it infringes on a woman's rights, how so?
Have you read the Bill? I'll assume not.
It now

that a woman obtain an ultrasound 24 hours before the abortion. It wasn't required before. Now it is.
In summary, forced procedure which has never been a part of the entire abortion procedure is now required by this bill.
Also, for the budget hawks.....because I know how the Tea Party types just love to talk about how much health care costs,....Have they taken into consideration about how much more expensive this bill will make abortion by requiring an ultrasound? (crickets)
Oh wait, that's the idea. Make it more expensive that way it can be attacked from a financial as well as a moral standpoint. Nice.
