Baylor Match-up
« on: March 07, 2012, 09:05:29 AM »

In looking at our two games with Baylor, there really isn't one trend that stands out. There were 3 pretty defensive halves of basketball (for both teams), and our one terrible half of basketball in Manhattan costs us the sweep. Everyone likes to point out Angel's mistakes in Manhattan, but the 72% we allowed in the 2nd half was our 3rd worst eFG% half we allowed all season (only @OU and @UT were worse). If we play solid defense like we did in the other 3 halves and hold them under 1.0 PPP and 50% eFG% we will win the game. IMHO.

A win over what most bracketologists currently have as a 3 seed would likely get us off the 8/9 line as well.

Was hoping for a prediction :(

get them in foul trouble again.  don't have turnovers 35 feet away that lead to dunks.

DId they play any man in the 2nd game?  They played 2-3 and man in the first game, didn't they play alot of 131 in the second game?

Do we see the dreaded triangle in 2?

I don't think Drew will go triangle and 2.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some man though, they didn't play man much in Waco.

We’re going to beat Baylor.  And there’s just nothing Scott Drew or his team of zubaz highlighters can do about it.

With bear'em there really is no downside. If we lose, we lost to a likely 3 seed and we're on the 8/9 line anyway. If we win, we likely bump to the 7.

In the first game, we were in the double bonus with 9:45 in the 2nd half.... and it showed with our FT rate being 85.7%.    But then we only shot 6 FTs the entire game down in Waco.    Baylor did play a lot of man D in Manhattan and hardly any in Waco

We have done a great job forcing TOs.   26.9% and 28.9%

We have them be over 40 on OR% in both games.   Really like to see that number be low 30s

Looks like there may be some good straw stirring today

"If you watched Rodney McGruder and Shane Southwell go at it in practice today," Martin said, "you would've thought they were trying to compete the first day of practice for playing time. They were fun today. They understand."
