Are those guys blockading the bridge right now?  Are they the MB guys or are they trying to stop the MB guys?

They are MB guys caught on a bridge when the police reacted to their use of firearms and attempts to storm government buildings/police stations.

On the street level, they're still standing their ground (and raising their shoes) to the (mostly for now) warning shots from security forces.

Wow, what are the odds that the police quit firing warning shots and take out a bunch of these guys?

There's a dramatic contrast between today and past protests. Streets are largely empty except for pro-MB marches. Also, the protests are not carrying any Morsi posters. This is now personal. MB vs Military. My guess is that the military will allow them to continue to incriminate themselves in the court of public opinion and in front of the international cameras for a few hours, then el-Sissi will finally unleash the military (so far, it's just been police) and crush them this evening. It will come very fast and willl be very violent.

I haven't found anything yet. BBC will have good coverage on their website, and The Guardian is providing constant updates via people on the ground. I still haven't seen anything on U.S. channels (although I did catch an informative segment on car seats for dogs on CNN).

I typically just have to rely on info from people there and social media to track any breaking news while in the U.S.

Here you go. Keep in mind that Al Jazeera is avowedly pro-MB when listening to any commentary, but they usually at least have coverage (also, ignore any statements from actual MB or egyptian officials; they're both shameless liars when it comes to casualty figures and who killed who, etc).

Also, the military-imposed curfew is noon central and the country is effectively under martial law due to the announced state of emergency.

Why don't those ppl on the bridge just start chanting pro MB things as they walk off the bridge and until they are clear of the crowd, then stop chanting Pro MB stuff and run home?

Also, how long until this place is Iran and we are out?

Isreal has to be collectively shitting themselves these days.

Those are pro-MBers jumping to get away from the situation created by other pro-MBers. Others are climbing down cables to avoid getting crushed.

Also, Egypt is more likely to revert back to the Mubarak era (or a pre-Revolution Iran). The military is the only functional and well-funded institution. And they share some common (perceived at least) enemies with Israel. The dominant narrative is that the MB is full of Hamas operatives (Morsi is accused of escaping prison near the end of the last revolution with Hamas' help). Sinai is a real flash point right now. There's a reason the military responded to a crisis in Cairo but completely shutting down and securing the Rafah border with Gaza.

Yeah. Here's the translation of the MB political party's Facebook post after the Wednesday attacks (which, btw, they denied in their English-language release and blamed on false flag ops by state "thugs"). This is from the political leadership of the MB. Let that sink in.

Quote
The Pope of the Church is involved in the removal of the first elected Islamist president.

The Pope of the Church alleges Islamic Sharia is backwards, stubborn, and reactionary.

The Pope of the Church sponsors Black Bloc groups to create chaos, pursue banditry, and siege and storm mosques.

The Church mobilizes the Copts in June 30 demonstrations to topple the Islamist president.

The Pope of the Church  objects to the articles of Islamic identity and withdraws from the Constituent Assembly.

The Pope of the Church was the first to respond to Al-Sisi’s call to authorize the killing of Muslims and the outcome of the authorization was more than 500 dead today.

The Pope of the Church sends a memo to the current commission to cancel the articles of Sharia.

After all this people ask why they burn the churches.

Note:

Burning houses of worship is a crime.

And for the Church to declare war against Islam and Muslims is the worst offense.

For every action there is a reaction.

You can trace the timeline of different revolutions by the layers of graffiti, with the first anarchist symbols later topped by stencils of the the 2011 martyrs and now covered by anti-Sissi slogans.

Meanwhile, in an absurd statement that sounds made up, the Minister of Interior has issued a statement calling on the citizens themselves to clear the streets around the main MB rally point in Ramses square. So, that will end well.

If you were looking to expand your egypt vocab, "Ramses" is obvs disappointing. But don't worry. You'll learn the word "Azbakiyah" soon.
