We have been starting work around 5. But to clarify, I had brunch around around 12:30. Felt late. Also, no mimosas :(

That's close to a late brunch. If you're usually at work by five, I'd say that qualifies.

Glad we settled this heated debate amicably.

Wait....wait.....OH GAWD HERE COME THE ULTRAS!

Tech question: What's the best way to stream slingbox to my TV? Don't want to keep using my Mac. Would prefer a devoted device of some sort. Also a remote control (am currently using mobile mouse to control laptop via iPhone; kind of a pain).

Best answer will receive something odd from Cairo sometime in the future (when the APO flights resume)
have you looked into this? http://www.slingbox.com/go/spcd

Also, I'm adding "beef bacon" to the review list.

Would rather stay in the dark on this

BTW, high security still in place for tomorrow. Most ITK types around here don't think this is over and that protestors are waiting for the embassy to be fully staffed again. On the other hand, most ITK types around here are also permanently mumped up from living in their offices for days at a time when they were effectively trapped during the Revolution.

from what I understand you can use a Boxee Box or GoogleTV to watch slingbox.  Not sure if either is supported internationally.

The Vizio CoStar launches October 1 for $99 and looks pretty sweet.    http://store.vizio.com/costar.html

*edit*  here is a VPN service you can use with Boxee Box to use it internationally ($5/mo, $35/YR)

NOTE: as the mods can confirm, I already have a VPN in place. So as far as the Internet is concerned, I'm in New Jersey or something.

Also, has anyone ever tried any of this stuff? Right now it's a dead heat between boxee box and sling catcher. I don't know anything about along slingcatcher, but I know I hate the name boxee box.

Sling catcher is made to do exactly what you want it to, so if the money isn't a concern, I would do it.

Slingcatcher starting to separate from pack...

But does a Slingcatcher mean I still have to use my pc? Because that sucks and I don't want to.

Also, Netflix?

Ok. No CPU outweighs no Netflix. Shopping now. From 200 to 700. WTF?

Cable companies shut down sling selling them.  So the few years they did make them, they became hot commodities.  Didn't realize they had gotten that high.  Last time I looked, they were in the 250-350 range.

in my 5 minutes googling to help you out I saw a couple of mentions that the slingcatcher was not reliable.  didn't see details.

The biggest issue you'll see with the slingcatcher is it is obviously a legacy product without updates or development since 2009.   Boxee is continuing to update and roll out new features.

Slingcatcher also only does video, whereas the Box does video, music, and photo streaming.

Lastly, Slingcatcher is "digital tv quality", Boxee is 1080p.

sling can eat a dick.  they made a lot of shitty products on the hardware side.  Supposedly fixed now, but I don't appreciate my expensive brick down stairs.

:dunno: I would say the slingcatcher just works.  I still love/use my sling devices that I purchased 2008ish or whatever.  It doesn't have the potential some other devices and being older, the picture quality may not be gorgeous, but it works/was built for specifically what you want.  Poster TexasBlindJack isn't a source thats going to change my mind, but I would research what a boxee could do in that department and maybe save the money.

Why has there been/continues to be so much spin on the Libyan embassy situation with regards to whether or not the attack was planned.  That seems like an empirical question related to finding out who perpetrated the crime, not a political football, nor something that potentially affects our relationship with a great ally.

Am I missing something here?

No ITK stuff for you here. My guess is that some view a coordinated attack (with such a rare, high-profile success) demonstrates that the network itself has not been significantly weakened. This is probably a backdoor effort to weaken political gains from the UBL operation. Second (and similarly), it happened in a place the Obama administration would like to tout as a "win" both for supporting a grassroots democratization via the Arab Spring (as opposed to the "imposition" of democracy in Iraq) and for a multilateral solution (again, as opposed to Iraq).

But I'm also really bad at following US politics, so I don't really know what's been said.

The Obama administration's political handling of foreign policy for a domestic audience is unthinkably bad.  I think considering the objective view is that their record is mixed but on the whole positive.
