Also, I know I'm about to say something politically incorrect here, but as a patriotic American, I would feel a whole lot better if your very pregnant wife was asked to leave the embassy and you stayed. i'm betting she's a translator.  obviously, she speaks english and arabic, but rex also mentioned that she speaks spanish, which he's never mentioned any personal history reason for her doing.  i bet she speaks french too.

Unless Mrs. Rex is somehow a key player in the Egyptian coup, they there's no reason to have her anywhere near danger...especially that you two are expecting (congrats btw)

fwiw you mentioned that she spoke english before your trip to paris. iirc it was in reference to her yelling at the chipotle people in french if they didn't honor your coupon.
