The Good

Will Spradling - Will turned into a charge taking machine this year. It has been a great asset to our team defense. Will has learned how to score inside the arc, although it is kind of sporadic. Also, Will seems to have benefited from handling the ball last year, as he has handled pressure much better than he did his freshman year.
Angel Rodriguez - Angel Rodriguez has started to fill the role of Jake Pullen, in the sense that we have a guy who can iso with ten seconds left and make something happen. This is real important, because we get tons of points off of o-boards, and when when Angel wasn't doing this and the shot clock went under ten we would either not get a shot off or put up something that was disgusting. With Angel attacking the rim with the shot clock running down, we are finally putting up good shots that we either make or get a chance to get o-board putbacks. Also, Angel is creating quite a few transition opportunities with his pitbull mentality on defense.
Martavious Irving - Irving has started to become a reliable threat beyond the arc, which has been huge for his slashing game. Irving is no longer a liability on offense when he is the game. He has turned into a great role player on this team, with a chance to be a major player on next year's team. Also, still super stacked, which helps him play some Junkyard Cat defense.
Jeremy Jones- Jeremy got much better on defense, on-the-ball and off-the-ball, as the season progressed. He showed an ability to hit the outside shot which is something that we have lacked at times over the season. Also, his speed caught other teams unaware at times, as he would blow by defenders. If the other team is not playing team defense, he can really hurt you on offense.
Rodney McGruder - Rodney has become more comfortable handling the rock this year. I'm not sure that means he is a better ballhandler this year...but, he has definitely come to terms with the fact that he NEEDS to handle the ball for him to be affective as we need him to be on offense. Rod has really solidified himself as a deadly threat from 3, and has also developed a varied attack in the midrange game. McGrudzilla dunked way more this year, which doesn't mean much...but, it was EMAWsome. Rodney also has filled Jake's role as super-solid-defender while guarding a variety of different skill sets.
Shane Southwell - Stir has shown flashes of being a better rebounder than he was last year. With his length and athleticism he should pull down Rodney type rebound numbers. That weird looking jump shot of his...well, it's going in now. When the team is having a hard time getting shots off, this new jump shot is really bailing us out, because Shane is so damn tall that he can just raise up and create his own damn shot.
Jamar Samuels - Jamar is doing what sophomore Jamar did on the offensive end. With the advent of Stir's J, JO not playing like a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) giraffe anymore, and Jamar being Jamar...we have become an above average offensive team. Jamar is rebounding with an attitude right now. Some things Jamar can't control, but I think he feels like rebounding is the one thing he can just try harder and get more production. Jamar is playing SMART defense (feel weird typing that.) He is not carving messages on the bench as much lately, because he has really learned to pick his spots on defense and play within himself.
Thomas Gipson - He has shown some flashes of offensive dominance in certain matchups. As his footwork becomes better, then he will be able to play more minutes against teams that are not necessarily natural matchups for him. Defensively, he has shown better lateral quickness than I thought a guy of his size would have. He is still a work in process as a rebounder, but he seems to be trying hard...which was a concern coming out of HS. If he plays with a motor, then he should turn into a really good defensive rebounder.
Jordan Henriquez - Jordan has generally learned how to catch the ball. Jordan has learned to block out. Jordan has become more confident in his offensive game, especially dunking on bitches. Jordan has learned how to time his blocks. Jordan has learned how to defend with his arms straight up. Jordan become good...me like Jordan.
Adrian Diaz - Adrian Diaz has shown some really nice hands and coordination for a 6' 11" freshman. He has good instincts as a rebounder, but needs to get a stronger base. Has shown the ability to run the break, which resulted in quite a few easy buckets. Defense? See rebounding. Diaz also looks like he may be a better shooter than JO, which could be a real headache for teams next year.
Victor Ojeleye - I hate when Victor plays, but he did learn over the course of the season to no shoot the rough ridin' ball.
Nino Williams - Still adorable. Had one game where he looked like he might be a total scrub at this level.
Omari Lawrence - Perfect candidate for Franking. Hopefully Frank fills the scholly with someone who can play basketball.
James Watson - See Omari.
The Bad

Will Spradling - Will went into a shooting slump that driven me to drink. It seriously is like the slumpiest sophomore slump I can remember. Will gets beat by quicker guards quite often.
Angel Rodriguez - He is a freshman. He makes lazy passes that he got away with in HS. He gambles too much on defense, and it really places stress on our team defense. He makes Jamar type fouls, and the worst part is that you can tell when he is going to do it, but you can't do a goddam thing about it.
Martavious Irving - Sometimes Marty just stands around with the rough ridin' ball, like he isn't allowed to dribble or something. He needs to be more aggressive to the hoop, because he is built like a brick shithouse. He tends to have games where he makes about three rough ridin' Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) plays in a row when he gets in the game, and gets benched. We need him to be a guy that gives us solid minutes every game.
Jeremy Jones - JJ hasn't quite figured out how his offensive game works in the Big XII. Good thing he has another year left. He is horrible about getting off of screens, because he weighs as much as I did in the third grade. Again, he's got an off-season to rectify this issue. His defense still worries me.
Rodney McGruder - Rodney has had times this year when his team needed him, and he wouldn't step up and take the shot. He is still a sub-par ballhandler, but he has used his size to work around that issue. He could be a monster next year if he worked on his handles.
Shane Southwell - Stir tries to make the perfect pass sometimes instead of just making a good pass. This tends to end up with him standing around with the rough ridin' ball. I hate it when people stand around with the ball. His defense seems to have regressed since last year. I think he needs to get tougher, because his rebounding is not near as good as it should be either. He should be a very good defender and rebounder. I think it's about want-to with Shane.
Jamar Samuels - Jamar has still had some inconsistency this year, but his production has been better overall. He gets three happy sometimes...listen, you're not Durant...you're Jamar...do you.
Thomas Gipson - Gip hasn't really learned how to use his body in the Big XII yet. Instead of making people go around his massive frame on defense, he guesses, and gets blown by. He has the width of a starter house, even with limited quicks he shouldn't get blown around very often. He has figured it out to a certain extent on offense, but he hasn't learned to back down smaller dudes yet without committing an offensive foul on a regular basis. Rebounding? He needs some rough ridin' work, that dude should be a funnel.
Jordan Henriquez - He brings the ball down too often. He is catching the ball better, but it doesn't matter when you bring the ball down where guards can steal the damn thing. There is no way that JO should be a 50% FT shooter. He needs to see a shrink or work on his form...something for God's sake. Needs to learn how to set a rough ridin' screen AND then move to the bucket. Not both at the same time.
Adrain Diaz - Do whatever Scott tells you. I can't tell much about your game, because I have a feeling that most of the negative things I see are caused by lack of an lower strength.
Victo Ojeleye- I am so glad you are graduating.
Nino Williams - What does he do well? Try hard and get injured? Haven't seen enough minutes to really have an opinion about Nino.
Omari Lawrence - Everything.
James Watson - This could still be Wally's scholly. I hate you.
The Qatz

The Cats are doing what the Cats do. Some kids got benched during the middle of the season. We won lots of non-con games in uninspiring fashion (minus the Diamanodhead.) We dropped lots of game early in the conference. We won lots of games in Frankuary. The good thing is, that even the most racist tuck can see that Frank's teams are always going to make a run. It is just in their DNA, they play their best ball in Feb-March, and that is awesome. What sucks is that I'm not sure that we are going to have many years where we have a solid season start to finish. Teams with tons of experience and talent like 09-10 and next year's team will be able to be more consistent, but when we have freshman playing tons of minutes then we are going to struggle at times, because Frank won't work on offense until our defense is up to snuff, so offense will keep us from having complete seasons most years...unless Frank quits Franking people, which he probably won't. The defense...this defense is pretty baller. I hope that the loss of Jamar doesn't kill our interior defense next year. We don't have an athletic forward who can guard a guy like T-Rob next year. I know that Frank isn't going to scheme around anything, so Big Gip better get better at guarding quicker power forwards, because we're going to need it bad. So, enjoy this defense while you can folks, it's fun to watch.
