I can't believe there hasn't been a GPC response.  I mean, I know the sides are pretty entrenched, but a couple of them seem like good guys and seem to care about legit passionate fans.

Maybe F3 stayed off payboards and they have been oblivious???

there have been a few good threads on Wabash Station about him.  stormnut's carrying the banner over there pretty well.  everyone has been very complimentary (other than dr00d who has no friends anyway) and many have encouraged people to donate.

If you mean media types, we reached out to the ones that we recalled having moments with fatty, whether irl, online or unknowingly (Manbeck jogging in front of fatty who observed and later commented on Manbeck's improving figure).  But we'll take others if we missed any.

Shwan 'Fatty' Alkhatib Memorial Fund   Reply
Since it has not been pinned to the top yet. Money is going to his family, specifically for his brother who is fighting Cancer.

Yes, he did get banned for trolling. That was part of his charm. He would tease and mock everyone equally, including opposing fans and K-State fans. He was relentless, and he was funny. His sense of humor was an unusual one, but once you really watched him for a while you came to appreciate it as witty and hilarious. Getting trolled by fatty was an honor.

But really this is what was important - fatty was one of K-State's greatest fans. Really, he was. He was obsessed with K-State. He had a collection of videos of every K-State game his whole life and then some. It went beyond the games though - he would record any clips about K-State from sportscenter, interviews with coaches, random clips on fox and cbs, anything having to do with K-State even remotely. He made the best K-State fan videos ever created using that collection of clips.

But it went beyond that. He could recite, from memory, the most obscure statistics about K-State. Scores, records, individual statistics from great games for certain players, and more. K-State was his life. These are things that I learned only after his death from some people who knew him personally.

And knowing how passionate he was about K-State, how many days and weeks and months of time he would pour into his obsession with it, he essentially gave it and everything else in his life all up to go care for his brother who is sick with cancer. He really was a good person, and I can't think of a better way to honor his memory and dedication than to donate to his memorial fund, which will go to help pay for his brother's treatment. So I would encourage anyone who has enjoyed his videos, or had a good laugh at him riling up some opposing fans (or even our own!) to donate, even if you can only afford a little.

Whether you loved him or hated him, Fatty was part of our family, and we as K-Staters always take care of our own.

Very well said. The only time I ever talked to fatty was on one of his videos on youtube where he was trolling kstate fans with one of his sarcastic titles, and I bit hard. He didn't respond to my comment, but actually went to my youtube page and commented on a video of me playing tennis (horribly I might add). All it said was "horrible form" lol. I said "true, but it got me to state" then he congratulated me, asked me a question of what classification I was in and said EMAW or something like that. I always thought he was 30-35 age range, never knew he was only four years older than me. Great K-stater, great troll, and after hearing about what he did for his brother he was a truly great person.

Bump. Never knew Shwan, but just realized who he was. I was friends with his brother Weesam in med school. Great guy. Weesam came to some bball games last year, but I missed the only games he came too. Was hoping to see him this year. Now I know why I didn't. Very sad...

I thought a long time about donating. I ended up doing it. Considering how much time and effort f3 gave to ksu fans and enjoyment I get out of his video masterpieces, I thought helping his family in their time of need was the least I could do to repay him just a little bit for what he gave me as a ksu fan. Birth of ksu football is worth a donation alone IMO.

I was merely pointing out that the reason this post isn't being pinned to the top might be because he caused so much trouble for Fitz and Co, while he was trolling gpc w/ multiple names.

I realize we all wonder how someone so young who we appreciate so much could pass away. That information is typically private and sometimes very sensitive. While I am curious I think it's best to get into the mode of thinking that "it's none of my business". If that information is revealed by friends on message boards then so be it.

I believe it is his brother who has cancer. I saw nothing to suggest Shwan had cancer. I apologize if I'm mistaken but it's been stated repeatedly that he was caring for his brother.

the lack of reading comprehension at that board is frightening sometimes.

"the sky is yellow. someone said that earlier."

"oh, no, the sky is actually blue."

"oh it is?"

"yes, the previous person was referring to the color of pee, not the sky."

"ok thx."
