Message Boarding Style
« on: February 22, 2012, 02:41:57 PM »
So.....when I sign on to goEMAW.com, I go through all the boards and open in separate tabs every thread that I want to read, and then subsequently go through until all the threads are gone. Then I get sad, because all the threads with new posts are gone.

Sometimes I try to stir things up so that there will be a flurry of posts to read. Sometimes I also make posts that I think were awesome, but happen after a game when everyone is busting out their opinions and I feel they go unnoticed. I debate whether I should just start a new thread or post in an existing one.

I'm hyped up on adderall, coffee, and nicotine and wanted to share. Have a great day everyone!

I do that on some blogs I read.  open each post I'm interested in in a new tab.

Thanks for the tips!  Now I will be able to spread my message more efficiently.   :ksu:

EDIT:  60% reading right here reading and posting 20% reading new stuff on football forum.  The rest is trolling Shaggy's football forum and their equivalent of this forum.

Yes. I do this on other sites, but not here.

I just start on the bball board, read everything I want to read, then go to combo fanning, and read everything there. And then if I feel like it I head over to the daniel sams experience board and see whats going on over there.

Pretty much exactly what I do. Lazy bbsing I suppose.

I seriously open a separate tab for every board that has unreads for me. I then go through each of those tabs opening all threads I want to read in new tabs, and deleting the board tab afterwards, then I start my goEMAW journey. Sometimes I'm like wtf, i was just in basketball, now I'm reading about Obama, then I remember.

Also, though my sig takes up a fair amount of space. It looks amazing when my computer is hooked up to my flatscreen.

yes, only go to specific boards if I've been offline a while. I most emoticons in enough threads this usually keeps me covered.

you're basically a dumbass if you do it any other way.  if you breeze through unread topics, then (and only then) you can go back to the individual boards and resurrect random crap people have forgotten about

Check the "unread replies" until I am sufficiently depressed.  Check the "unread  whatevers,"  Wash, rinse, repreat.

i live inside of the board itself and read it from the inside out (think of it as a home).  the posts come in from the outside of my home and where i see/read  them depends on the board on which they were posted and what room of my house i'm in.  what you guys see, and what i see, come from totally different perspectives.  i don't choose when to read the posts, they choose when i'm going to read them.

the DHOTA posts appear to be read whenever i'm in the spare room i have in my house that i use for storage. i generally don't go in that room in my house but maybe once per day, to get something.  and i leave immediately.  there's really nothing in the room that interests me (otherwise i wouldn't have it in a storage room), but from time to time i have to get something (like the box that my old router came in so i could box it back up since i got a new one).

as it relates to OV,CD posts, they generally come into my home through my kitchen and my bedroom.  i know it's weird that they would come through my bedroom and kitchen, not like those two places have a lot in common in my house.  but that's how it works.  cooking and sleeping are the two things i like to do most when i'm at home so my guess is that since i like basketball the most, it's a natural fit for them to flow through my favorite rooms.  i love to cook huevos rancheros (from scratch) on saturday mornings while breaking down the k-state cats game coming on later in the day.

the PDSPF/combo fan posts appear to be read through my living room, generally when i'm laying on my couch.  although they can appear when i'm in any room in my house, it's most often that they appear to be read when i'm in the living room, watching television and what not.  no surprises here.

the DKD posts are in the sub basement of my house, and i've not been down there in at least a year, maybe 2.  i don't go into that room of my home and have no reason to, therefore i have no idea of what posts are trending down there.  it's a very stupid, dark, part of the home, and i imagine the threads there resemble it.

good talk guys, thanks for discussing message board styling with me.

This.  But there a lot of threads I never read.  Like ones about Scrubs or messenger bags or most of the political ones or help cas pick an EPL team etc.

I use unread some, but most of the time I'm only concerned with the sport in season (basketball or football). Often I find it just as easy to stay on the bball/fball board and F5 it, then click on the new posts.

Usually go straight to the "in season board," and click through interesting topics.  Every once in a while I remember to use the unread link and then I get mad because I've missed out on all the really good thread tangents because the original topic didn't interest me.  goEMAW tangents are the best and thread titles can be very misleading to the actual intent.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.
