Up to 49 in the official RPI.  Texas is now out of the top 50, not good for us BTW, hope they win tonight.  OU is way outside of the top 100 now but OSU is about to break in.  Baylor remains in the top 10.

iirc, and if the broadcasters can be trusted, we were in the mid to upper fifties before the Baylor win.

Yes. Anyone who disagrees that both of those 2 losses hurt the most, please post arguments here, tia.
OU currently #108 in kenpom, making them the 2 worst losses in Frank's tenure (other than #156 Oregon in 09-10).

Depends what you mean by "hurt." The problem is people try to simplify the argument to fit an agenda.  If you mean hurt by hurt overall record, conference standing, and tournament seed, then yes of course.  If you mean hurt by national perception and in the eyes of the committee as it relates to our peer bubble schools then I don't agree.  Like I said before most teams have bad losses and most have losses as bad or worse than the 114 team in the RPI.

Of course it affects our perception. If we are sitting at 20-6, 9-5 (tied for 3rd) we are looking at a much different seed. Even with a split, sitting at 19-7, 8-6 and a great shot to still finish tied for 3rd makes a perception difference. I agree that this is a hindsight topic, but they aren't meaningless losses just because other bubbles have them. They are bad losses plain and simple and they will likely keep us at least 1 seed if not 2 seeds lower than where we could've been had we took care of business against a bad basketball team.

Sorry, I should have clarified. By "hurt" I mostly mean having your heart ripped out as a fan. I know losing to Huggz in 2OT hurts, losing @UT after being up 14 hurts, losing at home to Baylor hurts, etc. But losing to an absolutely atrocious team TWICE just hurts, MIR. It hurts.

I clearly said perception as it relates to other bubble programs, clearly.  If we wouldn't have lost to OU even at home we wouldn't be close to the bubble.  There are about 10-15 teams in the country without a bad loss, only one in this conference and their name rhymes with Smhaylor.

I gotcha now and I agree.  The home loss to OU is #1 on the hurt scale.

Gotcha, my thinking is purely "what could've been" based on the OU losses, not "what it is now". And more frustrating than other "what could've been" games based on how bad they have proven to be; outside their two games with us their next best win is Oral Robers or Arkansas.

Hell, Michigan State lost to Illinois, that win is the only thing preventing a current nine game losing streak.  I know as fans its really easy to dwell on the bad losses and give them more weight than necessary, but to the impartial observers who decide the fate of the future of our teams the big wins are so much more important.

Yes. W-L record vs tournament-quality teams is more important for seeding and bubble talk and whatnot.

I know you take great pleasure in attempting to be a contrarian dickface, but I'd advise working on reading and comprehension.  The answer to your question was contained in that three sentence passage that you are struggling with.

Nice work _fan, Northwestern infuriates me and the biggest fallacy with the RPI.  They get credit for losing to Baylor & Creighton.

Southern Miss is #11 in the RPI, which should discredit the RPI by itself. Memphis is also #25.
