That all your friends and those you love back in Kansas hate you.

Good riddance.

what part of oregon?

South-central. Klamath Falls. I'll be a ways away from the whole Portland scene, but i'll be close to California, so that's pretty cool I guess.

You'll be in the rednecky part of the state, so you should fit in just fine.  Also in the rain shadow so it's basically an outdoor paradise.  If things work out and California goes broke, you may end up in the State of Jefferson.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_Jefferson

I'm always all  :users:  :excited:  about regional succession attempts. Aren't there some counties in SW Kansas that have tried this?

WTF are you going to do in Klamath Falls?  That place makes MHK look like Manhattan, NY.   It's Unabomber country up there.

imo Oregon is top 5 states to live in, easily. Any place that as incredible mountains, close access to even more incredible mountains (canada), beach, top notch beer (Rogue, etc.), and bikes, you win. Only downsides is possibility for long travel. Portland has a decent airport, but I would put it on the 2nd tier or 3rd tier of best airport cities. However, since it is on the coast things are better than the midwest.

Saying Oregon has access to Canadian Mountains is like saying my house in Omaha has a boat dock on Lake Michigan.  The other stuff is pretty legit though.

in ski terms, a 10 hour drive to one the largest ski mountains on earth is minimal. so yes. close access. also 5 hours to Vancouver from Portland.

that would be true if that was the most important factor. Also pretty limited on where you can go within 8-10 hours.

You can get mountains and Chicago.  You could probably almost hit the gulf coast.  Pretty elite to have all that within an easy drive.

Now that I'm not super poor I'm never driving any further than OKC and I've actually strongly considered flying there and making one of you d00ds pick me up at the airport.
