Oregon
« on: March 08, 2010, 04:59:37 PM »
I just accepted a job in Oregon and am moving out there when I graduate in May. Has anyone lived there or have any insight on the place?

Here is what I know so far:
-No sales tax
-It's illegal to pump your own gas
-Pot is decriminalized
-Women are strongly encouraged not to shave anything  :fatty:
-I will be required to scoff at Californians

What else should I know?

TIA

That all your friends and those you love back in Kansas hate you.

Good riddance.

Oregon seems pretty elite.  Like, prolly second tier state elite behind the truly elites.  There are 5 tiers total so second tier is very respectable.

I know a couple of dirty smelly hippies that live in Oregon.  They seem to feel very at home there.  They sure don't smell very elite or act very elite when they stay at your house.

P.S.  Talk to me if you need a dope hook up.  I think one of them is a farmer now.  I'm sure that's a hard thing to come by there.

Florida, Oklahoma, and Colorado, Mississippi, and Virginia, those are what seem to be in my future due to girlfriends elite job... rank these for me? I am not sure what tier they would be in

You have to pay premium to get the full list.  But, I can tell dobbie that he has two members of the top tier in his list!

I only know about portland and im not an expert. One of my close friends lives there and ive spent a few days there.

Portland is very liberal, they are really into bicycles, microbrew beer, being green. It has a good music scene, there is fun stuff to do like hit up the bar/arcade ground kontrol or the giant book store powells. The biggest negative in my book is the gloomy weather, also it could be more diverse but overall i liked portland a lot.

Nice place, very scenic / laid-back.  Definitely the best of the non-LA west coast.   Good friends who lived there found pay to be very low and the cost of living to be fairly high (growth boundaries in their city exploded housing prices).  Just passed a fairly hefty tax on businesses and folks who actually make any money, not sure how that'll play out in poor economic times.

Well, clearly I was wrong about Oregon's third tierness.  I have been convinced.
