What Makes Obama a Strong Candidate?

I've read a lot on goEMAW about how Romney is a weak candidate (haven't read why, just that he is).  I've also read that the other republican are even worse (again not why, just that they are).

I've wasted a lot of time denigrating Obama, and rightfully so.  What I haven't read on goEMAW is why Obama is such a "strong candidate".  What makes him so good?  Does it really stop at his "political machine" or does the man, as a leader, actually warrant some praise.  I'm concerned that the Dems, embarrassed by the performance of their chosen one, have resorted to trying to convince themselves that Obama is the lesser of two evils.  That's not good for 'merica.

Since you wont admit it to yourself, ill clue you in.  Likeability is actually a huge issue.  Clinton had tons of it, bush2 had lots, obama is somewhere between them.

Romney, kerry, gore, gingrich, santorum all are hateable before even hearing a single positon from them.

I personally believe the actual issues mean very little in a presidential election, and its more about face value.  This isn't my own way of choosing who to vote for, but how I see a majority of the nation doing it.

It is skewed. Increasing the debt by a trillion for Reagan would give him a lot higher % that if Obama increased it by a trillion.

Yeah. The graph also makes GHW Bush and Obama look better because they only had 4 years to accumulate their debt while Clinton, Reagan, and GW Bush had 8. It also should be adjusted for inflation. A trillion dollars during the Reagan administration was a whole lot more money than a trillion dollars today.

That's a fine theory, but in order for that to be true, we need to run just as large of a surplus during the good times, but our government is not capable of controlling itself. We are not responsible enough to do it, so deficits do matter.
