Watching and rewatching a hilarious vid from another thread.  Gave me a bounce in my step and coworkers are  about the shiteating grin on my face.

Last day in the office for about 4 weeks. Hitting up DC, Denver, OKC, and Atlanta this round. Nuthin but yard work planned for this weekend  :frown:

Gonna eat at O'Neills in Mission this evening. Potato Soup? Yes please

a shoulder?
it's completely pud.  can take moderate temp fluctuations with no ill effects on the meat.

the best piece of advice i can give you is this- it's going to take longer than you think it should/will.  don't give up on it, when it's done you won't be able to pull it off the smoker without it falling apart.

yeah, i've read pork is most forgiving...so that's why i picked it. Not sure how big of one to get...or the best place in MHK to get one though.

Not sure of any higher $ meat markets in MHK, but I bought a decent shoulder from Dillons one time. I'd check there and/or Hy Vee.

I noticed a 6 lb'r at Dillions the other night. Was hoping for something a little bigger maybe. No idea how many that would feed.

That would make probably 8 or 9 sandwiches. There is a lot of fat in pork shoulder that will go to waste and of course the bone. So you would really only get 4 pounds of meat or so. That varies from shoulder to shoulder though. They can be very hit or miss.

Will look for something bigger, or maybe do two of them. Will be using a 18" WSM btw.

I'm thinking I will prep for some smoked chicken legs for the game tomorrow.  Also, I will party rock my ass off tonight for having a second weekend off in a row, which is rare for me.  I haven't blown anyone to pull it off, but I'm certain someone must be blowing someone on my behalf.

Super easy friday today in the office.  Plenty of BBS'n.  Tonight?  Probably knock out some 'sodes of Season 2 Walking Dead with the wife.  Almost over this cold, have a bit of a cough, but some McCarney approved Grey Goose alternative Ketel One and soda tonight should do the trick.  That or red wine.  Tomorrow?  Boxin' it in the Dev in my townie shirt tuck outfit.
