I'll say this about Brandon Harold before I start...for him to get back on this team means he'll have to really want it. Snyder will make that S.O.B. stand on highwire between two skyscrapers, on his head. If he's back it will suggest there is some maturity. Interesting how that can happen to players who have one year left. And if he is back then every one of you should be happy about that. Dude can provide us some depth, size, and he could be especially helpful in that 3rd down situation where we use 4 DEs as our DL. I just wish Bryce Brown realized before it was too late that you need a solid resume' of work if you want to get paid for your talents.

Summary: You may notice there are 12 positions listed....well, in 3 receiver sets there are your starters IMO just remove a TE or FB/HB/Flex. Mix and match. There are some lovely combo potentials if some of these kids are legit. Oh, and F you Bryce Brown for being a prima donna. The OL has the potential of being both biggish and athletic, especially if Foketi is a guard and Whitehair wins the other guard position but not banking on Whitehair, yet.

He's been here two years and done nothing. I like the situations at DE, Mike (except for depth), Will, corner, and I like Zimmerman. Fingers are crossed that a nose and free safety will emerge.

Sams tweeted last August he weighed 221. For whatever reason Snyder didn't update the roster prior to this past season.

Honest question. Why do you think Tuggle or Mueller would be able to make the switch to LB without an LB coach? Are we that thin? Do you honestly Joe Bob can take someone who has no experience playing the position at a collegiate level and make them starter worthy?

I've heard this question raised. First, you don't have to be a LB coach your entire career to coach LBs. Sh1t, the Philadelphia Eagles DC was an OL coach a few years back. Many of these coaches cross positions on one side of the ball. Remember Michael Smith coaching our running backs? Read a few resumes online of coaches who have been around a while. Second, he's moving from freaking QB to LB and not the other way around. There is a difference. Childs moved from RB to LB and saw action after one spring. Tre Walker was not only underdeveloped physically as a true freshman but he was, a true freshman, and started 5-6 games for us in 2010. It's not THAT complex. One would think Tuggle has played on defense before at some point. I'm certain that a spring and summer, film study, and plenty of tips from his multiple times all pro LB father could clue him in on a thing or two.

No, Davis will be a senior this season. He redshirted in 2010.

Tuggle was very impressive at LB during bowl practices according to super insider rumblings from high level elite sources. I'm kind of pissed off he didn't make the switch as soon as the coaches knew he was going to never play QB (which was very early on)

sometimes I do not believe you exist but are a merely an illusion derived from 500 BC Cynicism.

whether Castillo was successful or not does not dissuade me from using him as an example. every coach in the history of the NFL has had difficult seasons as coordinators. but if you like i could probably find literally hundreds of coaches who have spent time at different positions along either side of the ball. there was a point being made not exclusive to individual performance in the NFL. BTW, those are organizations with valuations neighboring in 10 figure marks...me thinks they have a decent understanding on whether a coach is competent enough for a specific job but you may want to send them an email detailing your differing point of view. i'm sure the Eagles would love to hear from you.

Don't really care what other people are doing, and I am disappointed in you. You're tucking so hard over Snyder right now, you appear to pretty much have forgotten that in the last 5 years under Snyder K-State is barely above .500 and that he's 1-4 in his last 5 bowl games.

Based on the performance of the defense the last 2 years, which has been, okay, I'll be nice . . . serviceable at best. Now's not the time for the great projection game in the coaching staff. But, that's what we're going to get it appears, so, whatever.

I like the quality of the LBs but dislike the depth, which concerns me. Think the OL should be fine. Will like the RBs if Hubert and DRob get more carries than Hubes. Secondary has me a bit

I think where you and I agree to disagree is that I'm a glass half-full guy and you're a glass half-empty sort of guy. I look at the following info and gather a few nuggets in a "tuckish" manner:

1989: 1-10
1990: 5-6
1991: 7-4
1993: 5-6
1994: 9-2
1995: 9-3
1996: 10-2
etc.

and

2008: 5-7
2009: 6-6
2010: 7-6
2011: 10-3

Maybe I'm "tuckish" but I see trends that steer towards the positive regardless of recruiting rankings or coaching hires. I think if you look at that time frame between '89-'96 you might say, "yeah BUT we went 5-6" in '93. That would be correct but I guarantee you and I view that differently.

I also place a lot more trust in Snyder based on past performance and the current upward trend than you do. I don't know if it's because I'm less qualified than you (which is probably the case due to your extensive background in D-1 BCS FB coaching and administration) or not.

I look at the fall off between '04 and '05 and try to rationalize why such a successful coach experienced that issue. My answer is more geared to what Snyder stated in his discussion on recruiting when he stated that KSU changed their philosophy in 2003 after spending "too much time" going after the 4 and 5 star kids from '98-'03. To me that suggests a sound reasoning for the decline in performance from in '04 & '05.

I know you believe me to be "tuckish" when I try to make sense of some of Snyder's recruits. I'm rather anti-tuck by stating many times there is no excuse for not getting the needed personnel at some positions or some of the prospects I do not like. Nevertheless I don't base my sole opinion on a recruit as to whether he's ranked or who offered. In that sense I really don't give a damn. If I like a kid then it really doesn't matter to me who else does. I look at a kid like Burton and his video is OBVIOUS which is why schools like Baylor were jumping into the mix late on him. But he didn't have anything like that video prior to this season. I can REASON he is a good prospect regardless of whether those other offers came in. I was on GPC for MONTHS wondering why KSU had not offered a DE out of Oklahoma named Michael Onuohu. Nobody had offered the kid and I really didn't care. Well guess who did at the last instant? Mizzou followed by OU and he ultimately signed by OU. According to YOU, had KSU got a commitment from the kid and neither Mizzou or OU offered because they got other kids they were pursuing previously at that position...well then he wouldn't be worth a damn. In essence, that is how you view all of this.

I agree with you on most points but I am concerned with our secondary. I know a good pass rush would help. Can you put my mind at easy on this position?
