Yeah, a lot of us have spent a lot of time in anguish over seasons of similar results.

Clutch teams tend to continue to stay clutch the rest of the season, minus maybe 1 or 2 slip ups.

Choke teams tend to continue to choke the rest of the season, minus maybe 1 or 2 wins.

We are going to cough up another double digit second half lead this year.

this team is better than it's record thus far.  the clemente/pullen/kelly team was worse than it's record.  these things happen.

Football was clutch. After the Miami and Baylor you knew this team was going to hold onto most games

Basketball has been choke so far. After Baylor and OU, you know this team is going to blow more leads.

I expect choking out of frosh and sophs though, so next year should be more clutch than choke.

You are confusing "clutch" and "choke" with randomness.

It may be SLTH-y to the core but in a strange way it comforts me. I'm going to pull this warm blanket of close losses over me and sleep soundly tonight. Oh man, so close to 19-2.

I guess in a way baseball with it's 162 game schedule, and lower variance lends credence to Michigancat's POV.  More often than not good teams and bad teams share similar results in close games.  The difference in a team's quality comes in how a team performs in games that aren't close.

logic and rationality also lend credence to micat's thesis.

I don't know what that means. I would say that "good players make more good plays than worse players regardless of the situation". Over time, of course.
