Noticed a bunch of KU people on the message boards are up in arms about Weis telling a bunch of their players to hit the road. You expect him to turn this ship after what Mangino and Gill did to it with the pieces they left in the cupboard? KU fans need to keep in mind that the way Charlie works it will take time to right this thing. Don't go flying off the handle and talk about firing if he doesn't have success in the first 3 to 6 years. Once this thing is rolling you will be glad you stuck it out. Just a little friendly advice KU fans. Take it as you will.

Yeah . . . its going to be essential that they see CW through the entire 5 or 6 years, ignoring the win/loss column completely is going to be of upmost importance.

Also, don't concern yourself with the national media types who trashed the hire. They are haters and have never liked Charlie. You just concentrate on you and the inevitable success that will come. They'll eat their words eventually.

KU fans need to remember that substantial improvement, with this year's impending schedule, may get them four wins at the most.

If you're a KU fan, and you win four games (with one being a conference game), you should be doing cartwheels. Mainly considering that they've only won two conference games in three years.

If Weis wins five games, he should get COY, IMO.

the jury is still out on this weis hire. i don't care what anyone says. i didn't even read any other post in this thread b/c i don't care and no one here can make me care either. but i'd love to see someone try to make me.

i think that weis is going to win and win big in lawrentucky, his staff is loaded with rings and soon, they'll be adding more rings to their ring collection once weis takes over and paves the way to college football excellence.

Weis winning and KU winning are not necessarily the same thing. I mean, so far, Chuck has already kicked ass, and not really done anything to make them a better team.

Could Turner Gill have Turner Gill'ed them immediately after they fired Turner Gill? Probably not. Weis is already on a different level.

Oh, it was a great job 25 years ago. Now even the great Charlie Weiss can't win there. Expect Kelly to be out on his ass in 2 years and the cycle will just continue.

I think KU fans want this to be a flashy, short-term success type hire, but they need to keep in mind that Weis will do things the right way. A true solid, long-term hire.
