Find the fake Newsweek cover!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

I would say this is the fake.  They should just change the name to "O" magazine.

I'm betting on this one, but I hope I'm wrong because that cover is awesome.

don't conservatives universally agree that newsweek is a liberal mouthpiece?

Pretty sure most liberals agree.  The MSNBC of magazines.

I cancelled my subscription about 6 years ago because I thought it was getting too biased back then.... Since then, it appears to have double or trippled down. I hear the magazine is now owned and operated by some liberal blog called The Daily Beast.

Seems to be the progression of all media things in the last 10 yrs or so: 1.  Pick a side  2. dig in  3. play to fears and/or pride of said side  4. profit

so then are we feigning surprise?

that would be like me posting a "find the fake Rush quote" and you acting surprised that it is super conservative.

It depends on whether or not they are claiming to be journalists. Remember when Olbermann got kicked off MSNBC for donating money to a campaign. MSNBC was acting all high and mighty claiming to be non-biased journalists? Then, when it was proven that they were indeed bias, they started owning it and stopped trying to hide it. Not sure if Newsweek is trying to claim to be non-biased or not, but with the latest cover, it seems not.

Is the Romney cover the latest? That's my favorite. If I were Mitt and I won the presidency, I would have that image turned into a fat head and placed on the wall of the oval office. It's just awesome on multiple levels.

The Mitt one is truly great.

rather supportive of Mitt while mocking the religous xenophobia surrounding his campaign

Mormons were founded by child rapists (Islam too). Don't really see how one can respect that religion.

Seems that getting upset over a media bias assumes that everyone else is too dumb to notice it and less pious for not getting their news "unfiltered".

Personally, as someone that worked for an "information division", I love sources that readily espouse and embrace their bias. Extremely useful on several levels. The danger is the hubris of those that deceive themselves and say they have none. Very "hadleyburg" pre-moral.

America was founded by slave owners. Probably some child rapists (per your definition) in the mix somewhere, too.

The problem I see with a biased press is selective reporting and flat out lies coming from both sides. How are people supposed to make decisions without an unbiased media to present the truth from both sides? It takes too much time for the average person to filter out the bullshit.

I work with quite a few liberals.  They spend a great deal of time trashing foxnews.  They admittedly get their news from MSNBC.  None of them understand the irony.

I'm also fairly certain none of them have ever watched foxnews, but that's neither here nor there.

Those newsweek covers are absurd.  Bias is not the right word, sellout is.

All media is biased. The outlets that wear theirs like a banner just simplify the filtering process. The problem is the outlets that propagate some unattainable concept of complete objectivity and lead to conclusions like "the truth from both sides," a very biased and discriminatory perspective (albeit exceptionally useful in a heuristic sense).

Besides, average people have been and mostly always will be the unwitting tools of above-average people. Fixing that is way above my pay grade.

Joseph Smith and Mohammad took child brides. Mohammad had some as young as 9 years old. Smith had 4 that he married at the age of 16 or younger.

I believe it.  Very grizzley and manipulative, indeed.  Having said that, I'd like to pick your brain for a moment, if you wouldn't mind.

I can only assume (in the name of consistency, of course) that you don't see how anyone can respect Christianity.  After all, surely you do not deny that some of Christianity's forerunners engaged in some sexually peculiar practices in the Bible as well.  Please correct me if there is something incorrect or inconsistent with your reasoning, otherwise, I'll take it as given.

I'd also be interested in hearing your thoughts on Felix Rex's point concerning the founding fathers' affinity for the practice of slavery, particularly Thomas Jefferson's?  Is this scenario at all analogous to the brutal origins of Islam and Mormonism? If not, why?  If so, how has that impacted your view on the contemporary US?
